And if so, would it have to be for charity, or would you just do it for fashion/ to make a statement etc?

I would shave a lady's head for charity, or pretty much any reason if that's what they wanted.

I'd do it for charity, for sure. Ditto for fashion. One of my daughters asked if we'd let her shave her head and we said sure. She didn't take us up on the offer, though, hah. I've thought about doing it before, and there are really only two huge things holding me back. One, I really like my long hair and two, my hair takes for-freaking-ever to grow back. So if I wanted to grow it long again, it would take me a decade most likely just to get it to my shoulders. I've had my hair short before and the pain of regrowing it was too much. I'll keep my long hair!

PSA: This would be a lot like the "Do you think I'm fat" question for your significant others. They're going to lie like a son of a ***** when you ask them if they're ok with it.

Reason number three holding me back. The SO loves the long hair. He would be pretty /sadface if I shaved it.

My mom said one of the worst things about chemo was losing her hair. She got a couple wigs that were really nice and made her feel a ton better.

Nope, not unless it was for a lot of charity money or just free money for me for that matter. Don't have the head for it.

My mom had a couple of high-quality wigs. She hadn't lost her hair or anything, but she kept it short, what with being in the military, and sometimes she wanted to be a bit more elegant. A good wig can be very very nice, and are usually MUCH more comfortable than the scratchy horrid cheap wigs out there. They do get really pricey really quick, tho.

I'm not sure why women wouldn't other than fear of the unknown. Hair grows pretty quickly.

I've considered it. I might do it for charity, as that's pretty much the only reason my workplace would be likely to tolerate it. Hubby wouldn't like it much, though.

I didn't cut my hair when I went through chemo, I still had a significant amount when I finished, but my hair was REALLY REALLY thick to start with. I did lose 80-90% of it but was only thin on top, I wore a hat when I went out.

When it started growing back it looked funny, like a weeping willow because it was filling in and giving volume at the base but not at the ends, lol.

I had my mom cut it short, I looked like a dyke for a while until it was long enough to put the sides in barrettes.

Now it's about 70% thickness of what it was originally, but it came back really nice, thankfully unlike a lot of people who get frizzy hair back, or very brittle hair. A lot went gray though.
