same here. Mostly because I do a lot of configurations after installing the OS to get the machine setup the way I want it. So it always seems like I have to do a ton of work to get it back the way I had it

This is why you create an ISO of your HDD right after you format and get everything set up; then you can just restore the ISO when you need to go back to your fresh roots

I would do like Webby said and image your computer after you've installed all the service packs and updates and installed the apps that never leave (firefox, cc etc). Then you just need to restore from that backup

Exactly. =) Yeah, you'll have some updates, but not -all- of the updates. Just update the computer and create a new ISO each time you do it.

I have no use for an ISO. With Windows 7, I only update once every year now and everything is changed in that time, making an ISO virtually useless.
