Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

posted: Last week, Royal Bank of Scotland boss Stephen Hester gave up a bonus worth almost £1m amid public outcry.
This followed the announcement that the bank - of which 82% is owned by taxpayers - was laying off 3,500 staff around the world.
In the Labour-led debate in the Commons, shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna dismissed suggestions his party was being "anti-business".
He said: "The public rightly expects that the culture of excessive bonuses must stop. That means bank executives' remunerations - stated to be 'performance-related' - should be just that, related to performance.
"Very large bonuses should only be paid to reflect genuine exceptional performance if trust in the system is to be maintained."

Random citizens thinking they know how businesses should be run will never cease to make me laugh. I had never seen rank bitterness and jealousy manifest is such a pitiful way before the proletariat started taking to the streets and crying over how businesses spend their money.

82% of the company owned by the public doesn't make them "random citizens."

It also doesn't mean they're crying over "how businesses spend their money", but "how government-owned entities spend their money". Bonuses are silly when poorly performing companies hand them out to themselves. They're criminal when publicly owned companies do the same.
