Subject: How's *that* for customer service?
Around the middle of last year, I got a new Crock Pot to do chili, chicken stew, etc in - one of the ones that lets you do 4 or 6 hours on high, and 8 or 10 hours on low. Well, the black finish on the inside of the crock started to dull despite us washing it in only warm soapy water and using a dishrag - no scouring pads, Brillo pads, or anything that would scratch it. I wrote to Crock Pot to ask what to do to get the finish back and they are shipping a brand new replacement unit, at no cost! They didn't even ask if it was still in warranty (although I did have to fill out the "date code" - a 3-digit code stamped on the plug) or ask anything about what had happened.

Needless to say, I'm rather impressed with Crock Pot - it's only a $40 unit, but, still...

I would not want another one, I use brillo on mine all the time and it is rock solid for years now. Probably not that brand.

I have been using ours for over a year now, and I scour it with vim and everything, no marks, still the glazed porcelain finish on it. You saying I should be more careful?

Pfft, no. If it's a quality made product, then it should stand up to the people you KNOW are gonna use brillo pads and elbow grease to clean it.

I've had my crock pot by Hamilton Beach for about 4 years now. Made at least 100+ meals in it, and used everything from a sponge to to clean it.

The surface is still like it was out of the box, and it still cooks a damn great meal (did an 8 hour pot roast friday night).

The porcelain glaze has no chips or scratches.

we use cooking bags in ours. that way you just throw the bag out and no mess to clean up!


enjoyingtea.com has amazing cs too. they sent me a tea pot with a chipped lid and when i inquired about getting a replacement lid, they just shipped me a new pot. didn't ask for the old one back or even proof of damage. they've become my go to source for tea now because of that.
