Mexican drug smugglers using the new border fence in New Mexico, they cut the welds on the drop in panels along the fence posts and use jacks to rise up the fence panel, bring the load through drop the panel and erase their tracks only to return later and do it again. Border Patrol is none the wiser.

Bring the troops home and line the border with them. That would be an actual national defense.

Against illegal invasion? Umm yeah, that is one of the jobs that the federal government has been charged with...

It is good to see you people finally pull off your disguises of being liberal when the truth is that you're no such thing. You support ultra big government, you support SWAT team murders, you support drones being used as spy planes on Americans. You people stopped complaining about Gitmo the moment your guy got into power. You laud the murder of Americans without trial. You celebrate the invasion of other countries without war authorization from congress.

Liberal? No sir. Totalitarian toady is more like it.

The government must use soldiers to stop transactions driven by supply and demand. Building a fence to do that would be totally stupid. We need live ammo flying around. This is the only way for small government to work effectively.

If you can't form an argument without putting words into other peoples mouths then you have no valid argument. But be that as it may, calling people who break into your home and stealing your belongings, calling that free trade is on its face, ludicrous.

Please show me where, outside of your assumptions, I have ever claimed to be a liberal?

We have a force for the Mexican border. It's called the border patrol. We don't need soldiers chasing down incoming landscapers you twit. I could see putting them on the drugs but...

What do you know, we have an outfit that handles that too.

Illegal invasion. lol. Look who rode in on the semantic short bus.

I don't necessarily condone militarizing the borders but it's a damn sight better than militarizing another country's.

This has actually been brought up by more of the extreme conservatives. The border fence needs to be much more sturdy. Things like having a deep ditch and concrete walls.. more like the great wall of china type wall /shrug

No thanks. I don't like a Soviet style wall. What I want is the root causes of the illegal invasion addressed. End the unconstitutional war on drugs. Make sanctuary cities pay for their support of illegal invaders and not the federal government which is effectively robbing the rest of the country and subsidizing the illegal invasion. Prosecute those that hire illegal aliens, make them libel both civilly and criminally for costing the rest of the nation.

since you're too obtuse to figure out what he's saying... One of the biggest reasons for illegals is looking for work. So if you are looking to identify one of the root causes of this you need to figure out how to fix the Mexican economy so that they have incentive to stay where they are.

The drug traffic is more back and forth the few that stay for drug traffic do so to sell but that is a low % compared to those coming here for work.

Yes you're obtuse. No where in here did anyone say that we should prioritize fixing the Mexican economy over our own, or that we should be financially responsible for doing so. The point is, illegals come here to work for wages Americans won't but those wages are still WAY better then what they get in Mexico in many instances. So if you're looking to stop the illegal immigration you have to understand the reason for them doing so and then address that reason appropriately.

I am with Loon on this. We can take in so many more immigrants. We ARE a nation of immigrant and don't you forget it. Immigrants are what make us special over other countries. They bring in new ideas and new ways of doing things.

we do take in a ton of immigrants.
there are legal channels to follow.
mexicans even get special treatment in those channels.

For those of you claiming that the legal immigration process is fine, I would encourage you to participate in it. If not directly, agree to help someone through the process.

You'd be pretty shocked at how 'fine' it is.

Apparently you don't live in a sanctuary city and don't see the effects of subsidizing illegal alien invaders or you're in denial of it. I live in NYC, I see the effects every day. I see that 160 year old hospitals have been driven out of business which robs the community they were in of their services because of unconstitutional government mandates that forces these hospitals to provide goods and services that is impossible for them to budget.

Why I would support fixing the economy of another nation while my own country is over 15 trillion dollars in debt is beyond insane. Why I would support fixing the economy of another nation while we have almost 46 million people getting tax payer funded assistance is insane. We have a real world unemployment rate of 23% and I am supposed to care about the economy of another nation? talk_hand

and youve never had to listen to european immigrants talk about the special treatment mexicans get.
i think there needs to be a fair system for immigration that treats all of them the same.
which would probably include lowering the amount of mexicans we let into the country every year.

Your source is retarded.

Just like our immigration policy. Because the caps are so low and it's totally focused on family reuinfication we end up taking at least 50% unproductive people and then closing our doors to hard-working immigrants who would be a huge boon to our economy.

There are finite resources if those laborers are in Mexico. There are finite resources if those laborers are in the United States. Keeping them in Mexico doesnt fix this problem.

What you need is to be more productive with the resources you have. American labor is light years more productive than Mexican labor. Moving immigrants to the US improves the one problem you have highlighted.

The one problem would be the resource of land. If the US population was highly concentrated and it would be difficult to find a square inch of unused land for new immigrants.......and we cant really import new land from S. America or the Middle East....but we dont have that problem.

Think about this harder. Try to get around your dislike of brown people.

What is retarded about it? The fact that it is counter to your world view that America has indefinite resources and is somehow supposed to be open borders to all? You think the statue of liberty is an argument for open borders?

Just like our immigration policy. Because the caps are so low and it's totally focused on family reuinfication we end up taking at least 50% unproductive people and then closing our doors to hard-working immigrants who would be a huge boon to our economy.
A million people are year is low? raised_brow Other than that I agree, the attempt to keep families together is totally misguided. We should only accept productive people legally. This however is a problem for other nations because it produces a brain drain on them and ironically is contrary to interventionist desires to lift other nations up. So instead of fostering natural development in other nations we are hurting them.

Are you talking about the lottery or the system as a whole? Because the system as a whole is biased towards countries that already have a lot of immigrants here. Not mexico in particular.

The lottery is not at all biased towards mexico.

We should actually send our military into Mexico itself to work with the Mexican government and start killing off the Cartels down there. They are as bad as the Taliban. coffee

That's like 0.3% of the population. Yes, that is very low. 2-3% is generally considered about what a country can absorb without serious consequences.

You have a source for this arbitrary number? And how is over a million people a year low when we have a 23% unemployment rate, nearly 46 million people on tax payer assistance and a 15 trillion dollar national debt and a annual trillion dollar deficit? What is wrong with stabilizing ourselves and getting our country going in the right direction again before taking in many people who are unproductive?

Not only that - a great way to curb illegal immigration is to make the place they are coming from better. The cartels down there are totally savaging the country. It was bad before, and is now, far, far, worse. We should work with them to stamp out these criminal organizations and I think it is really sad that this is not being seriously discussed up top.

If I was Mexican I would be hitting the border every chance I could get. coffee

The only reason so many immigrants are unproductive is because of our policy of favoring non-productive immigrants over productive ones.

There are already no caps on family members. Raising caps won't impact them. You won't see any more grannies showing up.

Letting in another 1 million productive, skilled, hard-working individuals a year would be a tremendous economic boon, not a bane.

Thank you for admitting that allowing in unskilled labor is bad. Now maybe we can put our troops where they need to be which is not in other crap hole countries that will never amount to anything and spending billions of dollars on nation building them when we don't have the money and we have staggering economic problems of our own to deal with.

There is nothing necessary wrong with unskilled immigrants either. They're just not as clearly a net economic gain.

There are millions of educated Chinese and Indian professionals who would love to come to this country who instead go to Canada or Australia because they arn't such idiots with their immigration policies.

In fact we even let these people come get their PhDs here and then we force them to go home.

Both.

If we legalized marijuana (and we should), they'd just find other ways to make money and murder people. The Mexican Cartels are a vile scourge and should be stamped out with extreme prejudice.
