Don't people have to learn this before they get their license wherever that is?

I could only watch about a minute of that. Got too painful imagining how someone could be that bad at anything.

It depends. In theory, yes you have to demonstrate ability to parallel park to get a Driver's license at least in Pennsylvania. When I took my test though, I had to parallel park going forward between two cones that were so wide apart that I could swing the mid-size sedan into the spot and get it close to the curb AND parallel to the curb without having to use reverse at all. So, in short, yes you sort of have to prove you can parallel park, but not really in some cases either.

Yeah I could only watch about half of it too. doh!

Interesing part is that in Sweden you are allowed to park them at a 90 degree angle (just drive up to the curb), since they're so damn short they don't hang into the lanes.

Why didn't they just pick it up and put it down in the spot?

Funny I have a friend who has a Smart and he said the same thing is true here.

It's illegal in the US. Hell, in many places, they will ticket you for parking your motorcycle any way but perfectly parallel to the curb....which is fricken stupid.
