If so, then the statement makes even less sense. Percentages aren't automatically smaller because the population is smaller.

But I learned on the Outpost that economic and violent crime statistics between the USA and certain countries in northern Europe aren't comparable because of the vast difference in populations, even though all those statistics refer to percentages

Population density may play a factor in your crime statistics. Also the reporting is going to play a large role in how those statistics play out. Hell, even cities here report violent crime differently. What one city counts as a violent crime, another may not.

8 out of 10 of those areas listed with low unemployment are booming oil/gas areas now.
