You people are turning me into a horrid retch of an individual, I have to figure out someway to overpower your collective influences on my soul before I end up burning in hell.

so I'm going to go hang out with a bunch of pretentious art snobs so I can mock them.

I miss jazz night at the Field Museum/Shedd Aquarium.

Though I think there were more people there to make fun of the pretentious twits than there were actual pretentious twits.

Not sure which category I fit into at the time. Probably both. tongue

my art instructor, who is a pretty well known locally(or at least, his stuff is expensive!) is in his 70's I'd guess, we sit around and he tells me stories about back in the day and hanging out with super famous artists and how full of themselves they were. He said he thought he was pretty cool for about 5 minutes once just before he met his wife, who has henceforth kept him as humble as a church mouse.

I'm on the board of directors for a symphony; seems as if half the people attending performances really don't enjoy classical musical so much as that they enjoy looking down on people that don't listen to it.

Congrats, I got my art addiction too, first thing I did in Amsterdam was go our and replace all the van Gogh and other prints (along with some new ones) that I lost in the divorce.

I love having his yellow house over my kitchen table like a window out to a street when you look at it.

This is my reproduction Van Gogh painting that hangs over my bed. Custom canvas the same size as the original.

I'd be careful about putting art over your bed. I had an ex that got pissed when my dna hit her proud display piece.

ROFL

it would wash right off, it's an oil painting... and if some biological traces were still present, I could just paint over them wink

I love the high saturation of the colors, Van Gogh is my favorite artist. I want to go to his museum someday... but until then, for anyone who sits around thinking.

I could be doing something much cooler than this... The Google Museum project is freaking cool. You can virtually walk around a museum and look at high def images of the paintings, some of them are so high in quality that you can see the brush strokes.

http://www.googleartproject.com/

there are many museums available to browse.

That google site rocks, if you ever get the chance over there, it is worth a day trip on its own to Amsterdam, just to get into the Van Gogh museum (they have better I think than 20% of his works). I can easily spend 3/4 of a day there, the snack shop for example has 3 kinds of trappist ales even.
