Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Let's face it, every original thought you've ever had was someone elses first. Especially if it goes against accepted practices or wisdom, someone thought of your idea millenia ago and discarded it as idiocy. As much as you think you have an intelligent leg up on other, "conformist" people, they are just as smart and as deep as you are, they just either get bored with impractical ideas or are busy thinking about relevant subjects that might improve their lives.

"There is nothing new under the sun." However, you can appropriate wisdom, creative direction or a set of ideas and make them your own- give them your own unique twist or perspective. You can modify or change existing standards or thinking to where it is derivative but different.

There are two types of original thought: 1) Thoughts that someone else already had, but repurposed to a slightly new subject and 2) accidents.

Everyone does this. Is everyone a free thinker? What's the point of the label then, why not just say Human instead? Its a pride thing. People who use the term are scoffing at everyone they disdain who has different ideas than they do.

Why do they bother you? Being an independent thinker doesn't mean you have to be an original thinker. It just means you try to make the choice you want not the choice others want you to make. Are you a dependent thinker? Do the choices you make depend on what other people want more than what you want?

My thread may be imperfect but that's because it is rebutting another deeply flawed thread.
