There is no doubt that Dem's caved to the Republican's campaign to keep the tax cuts. Maybe paul just forgets his endless whines about how the Dems wanted to raise taxes by letting the tax cuts expire.

Im not sure thats right. There was a strong argument against a tax increase right now even if you felt taxes needed to go up in the near future.
Even though they knew they would get little GOP support, the Dems voted for tax cuts in the 2009 stimulus bill. Dems also voted for tax cuts in the 2008 stimulus bill.
I dont think there is any need for tax increases in the immediate future.

I agree that some Dems wanted tax cuts as part of the stimulus but the only reason they were married to the tax rates was because they were already on the books and there was political pressure from Republicans.
