unions. Why is it that libtards take on "freedom of speech" is entirely dependent on who is speaking? If workers pool their money to spend on political ads via unions, that's good and should be protected free speech! If investors pool their money to spend on political ads via corporations, that's unfair and should be illegal! Issues like this are why we call them libtards and not liberals. Real liberals are for freedom of speech. Not just for freedom of speech for people who agree with them.

Oh. I was hoping for an actual list. Would be cool to see an actual list of the top 30 contributers, followed by which benefitted most from policys put forth/laws made by who they "donated" that money to. I doubt it was unions but I don't have any facts to back that up.

The top of the list, ActBlue, collects small voluntary donations from individuals. I've donated to it. $25. I was promised an Ambassadorship but didn't even get a T-Shirt. /shakes_fist. As to the larger issue, I would prefer public funding of Federal campaigns. Probably state campaigns as well. It seems to be working pretty well in Connecticut.

I'm shocked to find that a guy who is pro big government wants the government to be the only people who hold the political purse strings. I'm sure that wouldn't have any sort of negative effect on small government types.

I have no desire to stop any political speech. Even the kind that comes from people I disagree with. The thing that bothers me is that stupid and deceptive political speech is more effective than the honest kind. This of course is only true because most voters are stupid and easily fooled. My solution is to limit who is allowed to vote. Raise the caliber of voters and you will raise the caliber of political speech.

But then libertarians and social conservatives wouldn't be allowed to vote. Is that really what you want?

If you thought that's how it would work out, you'd back the idea with all your voice. The truth of the matter is it would decimate the Republican and Democratic parties equally. They are both coalitions of stupidity.

Wait. I'm curious on this one. How would you appoint voting rights? I mean, the popular vote is already a farce. I'm not sure how effectual limiting it even further would be. Even before we got in to the whole ethics spew, I'm not seeing the point of pursuing it. Personally, if we made an election reform, I would be in favor of moving towards something similar to that of Canada and most of Europe such as a first-past-the-post system.

First past the Post is used less and less because it isn't all that it is cracked up to be. Quite frankly, until you retards figure out how to vote for more than just a R(etard) or (retar)D, the voting system you use won't make much of a difference.
