What the study says is that there is a correlation between dogmatic, unwavering opinions and lower intelligence. Social conservatism tends to be based on religious dogma. It's all about refusing to ask questions and refusing to think for themselves.
Right wingers who are not social conservatives need not necessarily worry about this study.
