being confident, and not over practicing is the best way IMO. Just be confident and listen closely to questions when they are asked. Focus on the interview and not how you're doing.

Being overly rehearsed is to me, at least for a science/engineering type position, a negative if it is being interviewed by someone in that type of position

Come prepared with questions of your own. Even in this economy, you're interviewing a company as much as they're interviewing you. Don't just ask 'How much money will I make lolz'. Ask about career advancement, opportunities for growth, day-to-day activities, etc.

When I was offered this job, one of the things I asked was "Why did you choose me over the other candidates?" The response was, "You just had a very strong presence." (perhaps he was referring to my stench)

When you go in for an interview, try to be as relaxed as possible. Smile, make some quips if appropriate. Shake everyone's hand (if you have multiple interviewers). If you're asked about your weaknesses, try to word them in such a way that it appears as a strength. For example, "I have a tendency to procrastinate, so I try to be as responsive as possible so I don't give myself a chance to procrastinate."

in my experience connecting with the interviewer on a personal level has always gotten me the job.

just have to be careful what you pick to get personal about.

having something interesting on your resume can be good too. I've been called for tech interviews a lot of times simply because I worked on video games.

my favorite is

"In the past I've had problems with organization, so I've gotten into the habit of putting all my deadlines into outlook calendar so I always know what's going on.

Just relax and be yourself.

Maintain eye contact. Make sure you complement her, but nothing too sexual. When you leave don't go all in with tonsil hockey, just a peck on the cheek will do.

lol, yeah. I interviewed a guy who'd obviously Googled me and started asking me all kinds of questions about my background, especially in music. It was strange and even though that data is all public, it did come off as a little creepy.

Call a friend that does interviews and ask them to do one over the phone with you before your actual interview

Remember to bring a copy of your resume, don't bring a copy of your cover letter. also references should only be "available upon request" unless you have references that are well known in your particilar industry. even then, wait intill they ask.

Also dress in a suit or if your a girl then whatever is equivelent to a suit...always better to be overdressed then under dress

Relax durning the interview. let them interview you but also, you be the interview. you want to find out as much as you can about the job you are applying for. this helps with your follow up email/letter but also if you are called in for a second interview, you can do some more research before it.

always talk about how good your current and past jobs are. never make a negative impression. last think i want to here from someone is the job wasnt good because blah blah blah

have good reasons of why you left your past job or are seeking new jobs. dont give bs reasons, they will see right past you

If the interview is a good one, he may seperate his/her potential canadiates with questions such as, "Tell me a joke" or for example in my industry, "If you could be any turfgrass, what would you be"

always follow up with an email.

here is an example of my follow up email regarding a postition i applied for (minus the grammar mistakes, i was typing fast)

I am happy we had the time to sit down and not only talk about the position, but also to talk in detail about the condition of the course, logistics, and upcoming plans. I agree there are ways we can reduce our labor cost while becoming more efficient. I would like to hear your thoughts on this and can share mine.

I am going to continue thinking about the position but can say right now I am looking forward to the possibility of working at ________. I would like to talk in more detail about the position. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions. My schedule is flexible and I will be able to meet with you again at your convenience.

the above is tailored towards my interview i had. make the follow up email short and sweet, include stuff you talked about

good recommendation. an example would be, what type of hobbies or activies do you do? then you can explain yours when they ask....dont mention you spend time posting on acf and playing video games

Go into the interview with a gauntlet, on one hand, that you've lit on fire.

Do the whole interview with it on. Job guaranteed.

send your resume and your cover letter to your fellow collegues, people in your industry that you talk to, friends that are managers and see these materials all the time... alot of states have resources available for the unemployment people. they may offer free sessions for resume building, interviewing pratice, ect
