CCleaner does not repair the registry. It simply gets rid of unused or orphan reg keys.

True registry repair programs are Voodoo software. It can break your registry just as easily as it can fix. I would avoid it.

I use registry utilities pro.

Be careful of those "free" programs Afio. What it will most likley do is identify 300 issues, fix 10 of them then tell you if you want to fix everything please buy our software. Look for online reviews of reputable cleaners but it is likely to cost you $20 or so.

I'm yet to run into anything free that wasn't a partial fix with ads to buy. Some of them won't even fix anything, just tell you that you have lots of things that need fixing then try to sell you their stuff.

Keep your data on a separate partition and reinstall your OS once a year.

Well it does more than that, but you are correct. If your registry is truly "broken" or corrupted, a quick-fix program of any type probably won't help. You're better off doing a repair installation at that point, and/or uninstalling and reinstalling any affected programs.
