Do you tip at self-seating restaurants?

I'm not talking about McDonalds, ones that are a cut above fast food. There is a mexican restaurant here where you go up to the counter, order your food and pay, then they bring it out to you. They don't have a tip jar, but I always leave $2 on the counter when I walk away to my table to give them a little towards beer money. Just a bunch of college kids working there, I know they have to be short on beer money. Am I being cheap?

Yes. If someone is serving my food then I tip. If I have to order at a counter and take the food to my seat myself then I don't tip.

My minimum tip is $2, regardless of the bill. I usually tip between 20% and 25%, though. I've tipped as much as 100% because the person was seriously overworked and under appreciated.

Nah man, theres no topping off beverages. If you want a refill you have to go up to the counter to get one. They just bring the food to you, oh and they do clean up your table for you. The largest chain I can think of that has similar service is Panera. Maybe you have one of those in your area for reference to the kind of service I'm talking about.

I tip 3 bucks for a 2 dollar beer....so my amount probably wouldn't be applicable.
I generally wont leave less than $3 or $4 for anything and it goes up depending upon a lot of factors....including, does she has a nice ass? Doesn't have to be the server, could be any woman in the place or even passing by outside on the street. Think I spent too much time in nudie bars when I was younger and the habit got ingrained or something.

I have spent the majority of my life, and a majority of my money, trying to get lbgt the same rights as everyone else.
If there is anything I care deeply about, it is this. Because my brother doesn't have the same rights as I do.

Unlike you I dont really care about getting my point across. I dont have an agenda or any bone to pick with anyone. I put my point out there and I really dont care who likes it and who doesnt. I know who I am and my opinion is worth something no matter whether Im gay straight bi or somewhere in between. Thats what people like you forget. You might not like the flamingly gay homosexuals, which I dont think I am one, but they have as much right to have an opinion as your so called "great people" that you support. I am just myself and I think if more people were just themselves instead of having all these hang ups about who should be allowed to say what then we would all be alot better off. Totally depends on what they do during the meal and the type of establishment.
Some places are seat yourself but then you have a regular server. At buffets I will still tip if they take care of drinks and stuff but not at 20%+. Usually just a couple bucks. They tend to get paid normal cashier wages.

it really depends on how much service is given. Sometimes I tip when I get take-out if they're extra helpful and give lots of extras.
