Pretty sure getting raped up the butt is an immediate disqualification. Unless by "badass" you mean bad as in defective, then yes. He does have a busted ass.

That was just a part of his master plan.

I think that Andy murdered his wife and lover and he was a wimp in prison. He was smart though and I admire his escape plan.

The bit with Tommy exonerating Andy was one of the few parts of the movie I did not like. I wish they had left it ambiguous.

Yeah, in the book I think it was a little more ambiguous with Andy hoping Tommy's story was about him even though the details were a little off.
Reminds me of the Robert Redford movie version of The Castle in which he is the hero all the way through, while in the story there is a fundamental shift wherein the warden (Gandolfini's character) turns out to be a good guy with a tough job and Redford's character turns out to be a power-mad bully. But Redford wouldn't dream of being in a role like that, so re-write, baby!

Actually I kind of like the dedication of Kevin Spacey in Se7en. The way he kept the dude alive for 1 year was pretty neat. Also the character in Law Abiding Citizen, although I wish he'd lived.

I LOVED the book. Fantastic story all around. One of those stories that makes you wish you had thought of it because it's so great.
