Subject: Decal help with Windows XP on Apple Bootcamp
Hi Everyone,

I've been having some difficulties getting Decal to work on my laptop. I have an Apple MacBook Pro 4.1 and am using Bootcamp to use Windows XP when I play AC. I've installed Decal, the vrindi bundle, and these NVIDIA drivers (as suggested by another user): http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-winxp-266.58-whql-driver.html

Nothing seems to work. Decal is updating properly and everything seems normal, but it just won't show up in the game.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

All of the no versions in the list probably means you need to update the xml files. If the update button doesn't work try using the decutil.exe in the decal folder. This is just a guess though, I have never tried to use decal on a mac.

EDIT: Looks like you did update. Not sure why the apps say no version. I have seen that FileService have a no version before though. If i remember right I had to uninstall decal and run some special utility from the skunkworks website and then reinstall decal. Sorry, It has been too long since I had to mess with it to remember where the utility was exactly.

Hmm... I don't see any file called "decutil.exe". I do see a Decal 3.0 Utilities. When I click it there's a button that says "Auto-Update (XML etc)" After I clicked it, it said complete but still no luck sad

I actually did run that utility... http://skunkworks.sourceforge.net/misc/CleanDecalReg.exe ... and reinstalled decal, but still nothing :/

My suggestion would be to uninstall virindi's plugin and see if decal loads at all. If it doesn't fix that problem first. I know it won't load with the fileservice disabled.

I would definitely uninstall the Virindi Bundle. It looks like the bundle did not install successfully. Get Decal working by itself before you reinstall VI's stuff.

Also, I'm not sure if it affects anything, but you don't have a lot of the C++ libraries installed. I can't remember where I found the installers for the ones I have, but I have almost all (if not all) of those DLLs listed under "C++ Libraries" installed.
