The pipeline is going to be approved eventually. It just needs to be routed around the aquifers near Nebraska or have the study done to show it isn't going to harm the aquifers. It was silly for the Republicans to push up an approval decision before either of those options could be completed. grin

Obama could derail the pipeline just by agreeing to pay $100 for part of the construction. This would trigger a mandatory evironmental impact statement which would take a couple years to complete. That he hasn't done this shows that he intends to approve the pipeline, he's just stalling until after the election.

He might just have been stalling until they had a finalized route for the pipeline.

You typically dont see major projects approved when a state is objecting to the route and the builder announces the route will be moving in the future.

Both sides in Washington screwed this one up.
