I have an Entourage Edge dualbook (e-reader + tablet) and I LOVE it, but the battery died. sad The company went out of business, so the batteries are really hard to find. I loved that thing though, I read stuff on the e-reader side every day on the subway...mostly O'Reilly books and downloaded scientific articles, it was GREAT.

Now I'm debating between whether it will be worth it to drop the money on a new battery for a device that will never run better than Android Froyo, or give up and just get a Kindle or Nook. I'd rather have something non-proprietary, I have to admit.

I use my Kindle now, don't see a real reason for a paper book anymore (unless there were color pictures I wanted or something).

I use my kindle regularly.

For textbooks and anything that I will use as a reference, I prefer a physical copy that I can flip through.

I've tried out the textbook interface and don't care for it. Way too often I will want to have 5 or 6 different things marked and flip back between them quickly, and also at least on the touch version the pages are way too small to be worthwhile.

Help me out. I am looking at buying a Kindle. Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3g or the regular Kindle? If money wasn't an issue, which one would you chose?

i'd choose a nook or nook tablet depending on what i wanted it to do. the reg nooks are cheaper than the kindles and they don't have ads. the tablet is more than the fire but it's better.

Kobo, use it all the time. Want to upgrade to the touch version.

Kobo = Canadian chapters version of a basic e-reader.

I have a Nook tablet and I use it daily. I already had a huge library of hardback books and I there are still books that I will buy simply because they are classics. Nightly kind of reading, though....all e-books now.

I'm a huge fan of bound paper books, and share some people's fears that Kindles etc. will kill them off eventually, but darned if it isn't very, very convenient. Ereaders are particularly good if you like to read at the gym on the treadmill or on the train etc, cuz the pages don't flap everywhere. If you are at home it doesn't beat a bound book though.

for me its simple, the e-ink display is just like reading a page, and all my books are in one place, that takes up very little space, fits in my purse, and hardly ever needs charging. I like not having to return books to the library because I'm awful about it, and I can support fledgling Authors that self publish through Amazon.... like my friends, Zoltan Abraham and his wife Julie.

I've bought a few of the $.99 books, while they aren't always good, for a lot of people it's a start at getting feedback about how they could write better.
