Domestic sports leagues have nothing to do with the country. We don't need to wrap them up in the flag and doing so dirties the flag.

It was done quite a bit before WWII is the point which deflates your argument that it was not about tradition. It clearly has been done for over a hundred years, long before the song was even the national anthem. It has been reported done in the 19th century as well. An article below summarizes the relationship that sports and the national anthem have. The song that began in one war, and was popularized during WWI, and even more so in WWII show the relationship Americans have with pride in their country for the sacrifices the soldiers made to make our country great and the competitive American spirit on a different battlefield, the baseball diamond.... this is the tradition that you mock and fail to comprehend because you obviously hate national pride and have stated so before.
THE FIRST THING to remember is that it's a battle song.
The most memorable lines involve rockets and bombs, and the lesser-known verses conjure "the havoc of war" and "the gloom of the grave."

It's a national song meant to take a moment to feel national pride before national and local sporting events. Sure, it has nothing to do with the National Pastime(s) or a large gathering of Americans. It has nothing to do with taking a moment to acknowledge and honor the freedoms and lifestyle we enjoy, or the men and women who fought and died to give them to us. 
Do you whine about international soccer matches too? Don't they play both anthems there? Or do you only get your panties in a wad when Americans do it?

It has nothing to do with who's doing it. They don't play the national anthem before club fixtures in Europe. If they did it would be equally stupid as what Americans do.
If you're having an international baseball match between the U.S. and Japan go for it if you want to play the anthems. I can understand the sense of that.
Basically your argument boils down to "Europeans arn't as dumb as we are on this point and that makes you biased against Americans!"

I'm overstating things a lot of course, I see Yuki's point. It's dumb but it's not that hard to grasp.
Either is the fact that nationalism isn't inherently bad, or that honoring the nation and our pride does indeed belong in a sporting event.
I still feel that in his case it's more of an intellectual conceit than an actual argument.

I dunno where you get that from. It's never in any of the european sport broadcasts. I've certainly never seen it in Japan.
Except for international fixtures, when they play the anthems of both nations competing. Which makes more sense for obvious reasons.
What countries are you talking about? Crapistan and Venezuela?

Well, maybe I am wrong then. I honestly thought they did.
Americans are very patriotic. We love our country. Implants don't respect us, but they want to live here because it is one of the best nations in the world.
We will not change playing our national anthem just because implants don't get or respect it.
It's cool ..just toon in after that..or if you go to a live game, excuse yourself for a few moments. We don't mind.

Well, I would refer to myself as an implant..as in something that does not belong..if I were to move to ..let's say Ireland, go to college there, have my family there, make a living there and continue to hate everything about it and its native people.
I don't understand why people hate everything about my wonderful country and continue to stay when they have a fine country of their own they may return to.

Who are these supposed people you're talking about?
I know a lot of people who arn't 5th generation Americans and none of them hate everything about the country. Many of them are not mindless patriots, either, though, and they have enough perspective to know what parts of America are good and which arn't so good.
What I commonly find in Japan and America from mindless patriots is that they don't understand that "my country" isn't a debate ender. People with life experiences in more than one country often realize that "the nation" is just a made up idea that doesn't ultimately mean anything on its own. Asking why they don't go back to "their country" is a classic example of this disconnect. The people you're talking about see two places, each with different advantages and disadvantages, not two mythical entities the way you do.
People without perspective tend to take any criticism by "foreigners" of their country personally and as an attack on their whole way of life because they can't seperate the mythical entity from reality.
