i forgot small dog doesn't get the dog door

i spent like 20 minutes tricking him in and out of it with cookies tonight before it was finally bedtime for them.  i also had to change 4 d batteries to get it to unlock. thank all fk we had 4 of them in the battery drawer.

Kidding aside, if it's battery operated, i assume the dog has to push or something to get it to open and it opens mechanically?
Or is there a sensor that makes the door open?
I'm only familiar with the simple manual ones where they just went through, or the ones where if they press a big 'paw' shaped button it opens.

i forgot small dog doesn't get the dog door

it has a sensor on the dog's collar. we were hoping it would lock and unlock fast enough to keep my cat in once she learned about it. it did not. so we locked it permanently and murphy had to learn how to annoy me when he had to potty. but now that the cats go out, i think it's gonna get used for the day light hours and we'll either lock it at night or just shut the laundry room door.

Oh wow, actually, never thought of that...that's a great idea with the collar and sensor.
