I don't have a HUGE movie collection, but I do enjoy some good flicks. I do enjoy watching movies over and over, but at times I just stare at my DVD stand and wonder why I have such crappy movies and can never decide on one to watch. With that being said I'm looking to expand my movie collection. What are some favorite movies you all enjoy and it doesn't have to be genre specific...

Matrix Scott Pilgrim Die Hard series Bourne Identity & sequels Daniel Craig James Bonds The Incredibles Constantine They're not in front of me right now but those are the ones I remember watching more than once in the last couple of years. I've got a lot that I've only watched once or others that I like but don't re-watch and probably a couple I'm forgetting.

Good thread! My favorite movie is Ghostbusters. It's been that way since I was 5 years old and over the years as I get more jokes it only gets better. I love anything from Quentin Tarantino, anything from Christopher Nolan, anything from David Fincher. Silly action films like The Fifth Element. Comedies from the Apatow clique or parodies from early Mel Brooks. Superhero movies. Spielberg in his prime. And that's just the surface. I love movies.

I do have some of the movies listed by the replies, but there's enough for me to keep me busy for awhile ) So thanks for the replies... I'll probably get bashed for this next question though: Anyone know of some good anime movies/shows? I have a few anime movies by Hayao Miyazaki, but I wouldn't mind widening that collection either :P

The ratio of quality to garbage in anime is awful. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist (original or brotherhood), Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex are good shows. I hear people talk about Gurren Lagann positively but I have no clue. For movies, miyazaki's stuff is gold. Beyond that maybe stuff from Satoshi Kon (Paprika)? I dunno. Edit: you mentioned this stuff keeping you busy for a while. Don't forget that the stuff we're listing is among the best of the best. Please don't pirate it. The artists here have created the best of the best and they deserve to be rewarded. A huge amount of this is available on Netflix streaming or other legitimate cheap/free sources. Support the best or Hollywood will forget we want it and flood us with more sequels and low quality mass market drivel.

actually I enjoy having my collection of actual DVDs just like I do my CDs. Plus, downloading that stuff on dial up? Saying it would keep me busy for a little while would be a huge understatement lol

Dial up definitely hindered my online gaming experience in Dark Age haha, but it didn't keep me from playing so I dealt with it :P

oh yeah, forgot to add animes... Huge fan of Cowboy Bebop. It's the only anime that I've ever *really* gotten into. I also like Trigun. It's short (13 episodes or so). It's a little more goofy but very enjoyable. Another one I enjoy - but have never seen the whole series - is "Big O." I never completely got familiar with the plot, but it was one I always enjoyed catching when it was on. Definitely look into Cowboy Bebop though.

When trigun's not being silly it's pretty cool. I didn't really consider big o anime since it was produced by cartoon network and animated in Korea by the studio that did batman TAS, but it is good as well, even if it makes no sense.

tbh I enjoyed the silly parts too... but I figured that aspect probably wouldn't appeal to the hardcore anime enthusiasts (of which I am not).

The silly parts are kinda standard to anime and really annoy me. It's a big part of why I'm not a huge fan of the vast majority of it.

Christopher Nolan has made some great films: Memento, The Prestige, Inception to name a few. I recently got the LOTR extended blu-rays for Christmas, I believe no collection is complete without the trilogy (I am a huge Tolkien fan, though. But who isn't?). A few other good ones are Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 500 Days of Summer.

Memento is definitely an awesome movie and I agree that no collection is complete unless you have the LOTR movies. Speaking of which I cannot wait for the Hobbit to come out
