Do you have any idea the amount of sheer garbage that contractors will leave behind the walls of houses they are building, either due to laziness or (perhaps in this case) because they didn't want to get caught with it? I knew someone who had a house built and they decided a year later to knock out one of the interior walls for some remodeling, and they found fast food wrappers, old burgers/fries, cigarette butts, and a bunch of other trash inside the walls.
And it's not just the walls either. In the subdivision we lived in just a few years ago, we watched the builders just throw rebar and cement bricks and other trash into empty lots and simply cover it over with dirt and sod. I never had to dig up my yard for any reason, but I could only imagine what I might have found.

Yeah, I read thru to see he had it built. But it was an old magazine and hidden well. Plus the police released him back into society. I wonder if another person had hidden it there.

When we were renovating my parents house we found a full cigarette pack (from 1900ish), candy bar, some wrappers, I'm sure some of the other stuff that was left in the walls disintegrated over the 100 years since renovations. Unless there was personal modifications made to the wall that had the magazine I'd be hard pressed to peg it on the old man.
