Hi there ..

I'm new to the forums and have looked for this topic as well but forgive me if this has already been asked and answered in previous posts :-)

I know you can manually set a specific weapon for a specific monster using the monsters list that you add manually but wanted to know if there is a way to add a wild card to the monsters list. For example if set to default "auto" Olthoi will invoke a blunt weapon to be used now that I have a paradox touched weapon I'd like that weapon to be select when attacking olthoi ... adding each specific "type" of olthoi works but there are a lot of different types of olthoi in the game and adding 30+ monsters to the list and changing the weapon on each one is tedious ... was hoping *olthoi* in the list may work but it didn't for me anyway .... also for virindi once you get a singulatiy weapon, or when in Colo mini bosses Killa seams to be more vulnerable to slash than to fire but "auto" selects fire as he's a mowart ... I could add him manually so thats not that be a deal ...

Anyway again if this has been answered or is in the Vtank documentation and I missed it ... my appologies

cheers

+1, I can see where allowing wild cards be in the name of a monster entry on the "Monster" tab would be awesome!
But also, complicated. Would the order of monster entries listed have to be relevent? Like, what happens when you set *Olthoi* to your paradox touched weapon and then go out to the olthoi infested area and fight paradox touched olthoi? Isn't that weapon useless against them? (I have not tested this theory, but Im remembering the description says it's for "normal" olthoi?)

My solution to this has always been to make multiple profiles, each being a bit refined for the general area i'm hunting in. Keeps the list of monsters shorter. happy

Thanks so much for the responses ... at least I know I'm not a total doofus and it was not right in front of me .. I'll play around with profiles and make a seperate Olthoi profile .... btw the paradox weapon works well on the paradox olthoi ...

Wildcards are a wonderful thing and can be set up to filter out and include all kinds of things .. there just has to be some consistancy in monster naming conventions ... you could for instance do paradox* and olthoi* I'm pretty sure "normal" olthoi start with Olthoi (e.g. Olthoi Worker) and paradox start with Paradox (e.g. Paradox touched Olthoi Warrior) or something like that, the ordering of rules maybe an issue but not sure how the code works .... anyhoo ... I love Virindi tools regardless .. but this kind of flexibily wouod be kinda nice :-)

cheers
