You're only partially right. It was about restoring dignity to both the oppressed blacks and the oppressive white establishment through non-violent means. Ultimately it meant social and economic reforms. The Jim Crow laws only touched the surface. Ron Pauls policies would be anti-economic justice because Ron Pauls policies woul, as you said, ignore the centuries of oppression suffered. Simply abolishing racist official laws and establishments would only fix a small minority of issues Blacks faced at the time, and would probably just eventually reshuffle the oppression. So I ask again, if he wants to call MLK an ally, where was he during the movement?

Ron Paul believes that businesses should be perfectly free to discriminate against anyone and that the government has no right to intervene. The invisible hand of the free market will make sure that their discriminatory businesses will fail. No mention of time frame, of course. Why, without the Civil Rights Act, discrimination would probably almost have disappeared by 2120 or so.

Slavery was constitutional until they amended the constitution. Ron Paul would be for this amendment, but the important thing is why. He would be for it because the states voted for it. He wouldn't be for it because of any "morality" and I think that distinction is very important.
Fun Fact: Ron Paul is against us having waged the civil war. I would extrapolate from this that he would have been against an amendment freeing the slaves because the South was held hostage after the North won. Signing an amendment under duress doesn't seem to fit his philosophy.

His own website says he would overturn Roe V Wade (which he does not have the authority to do), then to pass the Sanctity of Life Act, which bars the judiciary from applying judicial review to cases relating to abortion.
It's an odd stance, likely driven by his need to be an anti-choice libertardian, which isn't really possible.

The only difference is that in one, you aren't forcing women to travel across state lines in order to get medical treatment, just to make some people feel good about their state while accomplishing nothing towards their goal.
