proper codecs possibly.

you have something that won't play i take it?

edit-

codec package. if it doesn't play after installing that try VLC player. if it still doesn't play theres a high probability the file itself is corrupt.

it needs the correct codecs to play whatever file. it isn't always about the extension, but how it was compressed.

I use the ace's mega codec pack, found easily and free (legally) by google search.

Codec packs are usually teh devil. VLC for the win. It and GOM don't require external codecs.

In any case, if you do install a codec, make sure you only install *one* of them. Two of them will fight like skunks in heat.

this is why i use cccp. the insurgent program will help you remove any existing codecs and packs and so far i haven't found anything the codecs won't play.

vlc is useful but i've had it really mangle the video on some files so it doesn't always work. i also don't really like its interface.

edit-

btw cccp comes with media player classic which is a hell of alot better than the crappy updated windows media player.

personally i like zoomplayer + cccp codecs. never any problems and i like zooms interface.

Shark's - plays everything with the click of a button, and one of the least invasive codec packs Ive seen.

I've never had a problem with Ace, it has it's own interface on install to pick and choose if you want to avoid something.
