Kinda puts a lie to the idea that wealth redistribution diminishes opportunity to better oneself, eh?

Also, most tellingly:

"Even by measures of relative mobility, Middle America remains fluid. About 36 percent of Americans raised in the middle fifth move up as adults, while 23 percent stay on the same rung and 41 percent move down, according to Pew research. The “stickiness” appears at the top and bottom, as affluent families transmit their advantages and poor families stay trapped."

Fact: The leading cause of being poor is having poor parents.

Libtards - "Here's an idea. Let's pay poor people to have children."

Libtards later - "ZOMG, why are there so many poor people?"

This is why we need to shift tax burdens so poor people get less and pay more and rich people pay less!

I'd like to see this study based on consumption rates. I'm not sure it would turn out differently but I do wonder. Basically all this study shows is that countries that are more socialist are more socialist. It does nothing to refute the argument that the overall standard of living may be lower. So some of our lower 20 percent may live better than some of their middle 40 percent. If that is true, then the study is worthless.

^ if you're talking about Canada, they don't. Depending on how far asset prices fall in Europe, they might.

I know Americans generally have larger houses and more and more affordable property.

but mean standard of living comparisons aren't dispositive either. You'd have to look at specific groups of income by percentage then compare those standards of living to speak to what this article is trying to say. After all I think everyone would agree that it would be better for everyone to be twice as rich next generation then for our rich to be ten times poorer, our middle class to be 4 times poorer and our poor be two times poorer. Yet if all that poorness hit we'd look better in this study.
