I posted this on the Turbine forums as well, but I am hoping/guessing I will get more help here. Please read the issue thoroughly, and please do not assume I am some idiot who has not tried other avenues to remedy this on my own. I have exhausted those, so I am coming here as a last resort.

Hi, I know there are a lot of threads pertaining to this, and I assure you, I have tried all the methods contained in those threads. Here is a quick synopsis of my issue.

1. I have an apartment I am renting. Initially, I was having issues getting into the game. My issue was, as soon as the patching was done and the character tried to get into the game, he would never enter portal space. I changed my IP address to static, and the landlord allowed me to configure her router for port forwarding, and the problem was solved.

2. I went home for Christmas, and on the way back, I stayed at a motel. Initially, I could not log onto the internet (or AC) so I called the hotel tech support. They instructed me on how to get back on, which basically entailed me switching my IP address back to dynamic. The internet and AC then worked fine (from the hotel).

3. Now I am back to my apartment. I used the Port Forwarding program to change my IP address back to static, however I can not log in to AC. This seems to be different than the original problem, because instead of not being able to enter portal space, I cannot even get through the patching portion (there are two "coil" looking things on the opening screen that look like springs - one which says "Connecting" and the other which says "Update Progress"). The "Connecting" coil turns blue, while the "Update Progress" coil does not change colors.

So to reiterate/summarize, my problem before was I couldn't get into portal space (because port forwarding was not enabled). My problem now is that I cannot get the program to patch or update, and I have no idea why. I am guessing it has something to do with me swapping my IP address from static to dynamic and back to dynamic, but I do not know for sure.

I would greatly appreciate any specific help with this issue (please speak in non-technical lingo).
