I'll read the internets all day. Blogs, forums, tvtropes...

Books, especially fiction, I don't like reading.

Even back in school with book it and pizza as an incentive, I did the bare minimum.

I am the exact opposite. I hate non-fiction with a passion.

ME!

I love non-fiction but I have a very hard time having any interest in fiction. I'll either wait for a movie or just say nuts to it.

I like both, but of course it depends on the genre.

I have a couple of friends who read exclusively non-fiction.

I don't get it.

Yes, you are the only one that dislikes fiction, in the history of the universe. (see that fiction there? what a paradox)

Same. I read fiction constantly. I will occasionally read non-fiction books about cool science things, but it takes me forever to get through them and I lose interest quickly.

The SO is like that though. He has voluntarily read a total of like 3 books in his entire life. He reads sports message boards and is very intelligent, just doesn't like reading books at all.

I read both fiction and non-fiction. The differences between the two are great enough where I could understand someone not liking either, though.

Reading fiction is a near indescribable experience. It's interesting the way I can get sucked into a good fantasy novel. I guess you need to be an avid reader to know what I'm talking about. It's probably different for every person, but it seems that at times, I just become one with the words and the experience. But if you don't like what you're reading, there's no way that you could get to this level of perception.

Non-fiction is different though. If the subject matter is interesting, it can be as enjoyable as fiction, but in a different way that I can't really describe. It's more on a level of just joy in the absorption of knowledge. Fiction is more of a roller-coaster ride.

You've done a good job of describing how I feel about reading, especially when I read fiction.

I rarely read non-fiction. If I do it's generally science related. I can't stand advice/self help type books and blogs don't interest me in the least. A few biographies have been interesting but really the closest I get those are actually more fiction based as in historical fiction.

That's pretty much me. I try to red non-fiction, but most of it doesn't interest me. I'm a huge sci-fi/fantasy/historical fiction fan.

This is a very good way to sum up how I feel as well. That being said, I'd estimate that 80% of my reading is fiction, and the other 20% non-fiction. My favorite fiction genre is sci-fi/fantasy but I read plenty in other genres as well. My non-fiction is mostly how-to books, but I do enjoy history books as well. Or not history so much as books on ancient cultures and how they did things and why. Cultural/physical Anthropolgy I guess?

The older I get the more interested I am in history. I saw it in my dad and worried I would be the same, yet hoped I would not be.
