Inspired from my new stove thread

here it is:

I bought 2 cords of wood @ 200 each = $400

we called an audible and bought a pellet stove

looking to get rid of wood called a friend, and he said sure how much?

I said half price....

I felt a little funny about it.. and my thread has really got me thinking..

so you decide ACF.. just give it to him?

wood should always be given freely and copiously.

I think half-price is good...

Helps offset part of the cost of getting the pellet stove. Granted, you'll have to eat $200 but better than $400.

I am probably not the one to ask because I give away everything I don't want. I gave a friend and his wife my motorcycle for a wedding gift because I'd rather give stuff away than sell it. I have about 4 large bags of stuff to give to Good Will today.

But I would say give it to them happy

I wouldnt charge them in money, I would charge them in beer. 1 case of beer of your choice per cord. That way they dont feel like they are leeching off of you.

Are they full cords or face cords?

Mixed hardwood? Any soft wood in it at all?

Split? Roundlings?

Does the price include delivery?

In case you didn't know:

Full cord is 4 feet high by 4 feet deep by 8 feet long.

Face cord is 4 feet high by 16 inches deep by 8 feet long.

Indeed.

Obviously, it would make a difference in price. At least it would if I were selling.

Also, if the price included delivered and stacked -or- Yup! There's the wood! It's all yours! Good luck moving it!

ME: Hey... Iv'e been thinking. I think I overcharged you guys. You are too good of friends for that price. I have reduced it. 12 pack per coord sounds about right. Also, if you can wait till the weekend I can help you move it (he has been taking some here and there)

HIM: Thanks. I really don't mind paying you. Whatever you want. I appreciate it. I won't be around this weekend, my guys have been helping me thanks anyway

ME: OK, you talked me into it. 6 pack per cord.. you drive a hard bargain

For that investment, I'd build a fire pit in the back yard and use the wood myself. Fornicate your "firend."

2 cases of beer if you are buddies. (Make a trade, not have him purchase)

$100 if you are being generous.

$200 if you are trying to sell it. (would you sell it otherwise)

I probably wouldn't give it entirely free.

Friends of ours gave us free wood. "Hey thanks!"

It was in the form of felled trees out in the woods. My father the big spender decided we should haul it out by hand (very muddy springtime forest.) Later when it was dry I got to split it all, with a regular axe, not even a splitting wedge. =/

It was pretty damn free for him, not so free for me.

both

and its split seasoned wood ready to go

not sure of the kinds.. but I know its not pine or any crappy kinds

I only like wood logs I can chop up with an axe. It's really empowering to attack a tree like that. Take that nature, who's the boss now.

I wouldn't expect my friends to give me free stuff they just paid a lot of money for. Half price is a hell of a deal, I wouldn't have any problems paying for it.

That's my thoughts as well, but considering the nature of your guys friendship, I think you did a fine thing.
