Baking a cherry pie.

I love to cook. Rarely bake pies, cakes, or any desert.

If you have any leftover pie crust dough after getting the pie all ready, roll it flat, lightly brush with a bit of melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, and bake it until it's barely golden round the edges.

My mother used to do that and we looooved it. Like a buttery, golden pie crust cookie. Mmmmmm love

Also I love cherry pie! Any kind of pie really.

I did make a pie once that totally flopped- lemon meringue. The meringue part came out AWESOME but I simply could not get the lemon mixture to set. It came out delicious, but it definitely wasn't right lol.

My girls still to this day tell me that I make delicious lemon-meringue soup tongue

My mom did that too and I almost did but I sampled the dough.

That tastes good!

Then I sampled it again and ... twas gone.

When you're measuring out the water to mix in with the flour, substitute 1/4 of the water with clear, unflavored vodka.

It makes it so the pie crust is nice and pliable to work with, but the vodka evaporates during the baking, leaving you with a beautiful, flaky pie crust.

Good idea. I'll have to try that. I tried the pie crusts that use vinegar and I just didn't like the taste. I always go back to my tried and true Betty Crocker recipe.

also, minimize the contact with your skin if your pie crusts turn out tough or chewy. A baker once told me that you either have dough hands or you don't. If you can't make a good pie crust this is why.
