Crew Skills Gathering Skills Slicing Rewards from Slicing have been reduced to bring them into balance with other skills. Adjusted incorrect values for medium slicing boxes. http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes didnt even make it a month from launch. now its pointless to do slicing missions anymore. basically now you are just paying for a skill up. 300-500 credits to send a companion on a mission to receive a box that gives me on avg a 100 credits now 220 slicing skill yesterday I was getting on avg 750-1000 credits per mission, got a few boxes that where 1500+ credits.

we've been telling them they needed to nerf slicing since dec 2010. i'm glad to see they finally listened. way too late. now paying customers are going to be super mad. one build, as a slicer, i had over 300k credits before i was level 20. this was just me picking them up around dk and sending my companions out on missions.

Then your experience is unlike almost everyone on Tat that I've talked to. Yeah you can't make 500k before 20 anymore, but they are saying it's still worthwhile. OH NOES YOU CANT MAKE FREE CREDITS BY THE TRUCKLOAD ANYMORES

Actually, Slicing at cap was nearly worthless. 20-30 minute missions that cost 1.5k credits to send out(if you even got a Rich 5 in your list), and made a return of 4-5k credits. You get 6k-8k credits per quest, and 500-1k credits per kill at that level. It was borderline useless outside of Augs at cap, now it IS useless outside of Augs. Oh well. edit: and lololol at 500k before 20. I did slicing missions constantly and I had like 90k at 20. All they had to do was lower slicing at the lower levels, because it was pretty crazy FOR THAT LEVEL. At cap, it was crap. Now it's beyond crap. For money making anyways.

uhm. you lose money on all of the other crew missions. why the fk would you be upset by slicing now being in line with that? slicing was previously a gathering skill for cybertech. but cybertech also relied on scavaging and underworld trading i think. it needed 3 additional skills to level it up. so i understand they took slicing out of the mix and made it like investigation is. but seriously, stop crying about not getting free money anymore. no other crafting skill was free money.

outside of being useful in flashpoints, it has no purpose now. and the end product from crafting is you will turn a profit unless your a complete bozo, and buy overpriced mats. you make your self free gear and when you get closer to max levels you get to make epic gear for use or sell. what does end game slicing get you? nothing its the same thing it has at level 1 just a bigger percentage.

also scavenging is nothing but a pure money maker if you dont have a crafting skill for example: Vendor price for item: 400 creds Rich mission cost: 9xx creds (assume 1k) Yeld: 32 items. Yeld in credits: 32*400=12 800 credits Profit: 11,8k That's for tier 5

Yeah, I need to start doing that too... right now I'm just doing lockboxes... making about 200-300 credit profit per box instead of 400-500 now. I think one of the things they fixed was the poor scaling of slicing and profit... before I just ran a low level crew mission over and over for big profit, now the higher missions actually have the higher payout.
