All versions of decal work for me in vmware. If the old one works but the new one doesn't, we want info.

Are you running win7 or xp in your virtual machine VI?

I haven't been able to get .5 working either, and i'm running xp.

Could the fact that my laptop came with Vista and I am running XP off a dual boot have anything to do with it?

2008R2 at the moment, but I haven't had problems with xp in the past.

What are your VM settings? Which version of vmware? This is with a fresh 2965 install? Exactly what things did you install in the VM (which updates, which dx, etc)?

If I can duplicate it by installing xp in a fresh vm and then installing 2965 and getting the problem it would help immensely in tracking down the issue.

Not running it in vmware. Having problems running it in xp pro.

But honestly, I haven't tried using .5 in about 2-3 months. I'll get a fresh dl and try using it tomorrow and let ya know if I run into any problems.

What info do you need if I do happen to still have problems?

Edit: Hopefully you can get the OP to provide some info. I'll help with whatever I can provide.

I am kinda thinking my problems have something to do with the fact that my comp came with Vista installed (Toshiba laptop). I tried formatting my HD and installing Win xp pro, but for some reason couldn't get it to work. So I had to reinstall Vista, then install xp in a seperate partition and boot xp from that partition. The odd thing is, if I boot Vista, it completely wipes the xp partition and I have to reinstall it.

So yeah....cheap laptops are not a good investment.

I'm able to duplicate this running XP SP3 on VMware Workstation 8 with the just AC/NET SP2x86/Decal(both.4 and .5)/DirectX9C

Not much for info either (surprisingly) .. Just got the error when logging in a toon from the toon selection screen in the AC client ..
Nothing in the eventlogs. It crashes back to the desktop.

"acclient has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." (Microsoft)

I have a old (physical) XP laptop I can pull out in a few days, install .5 on it and see if I duplicate it on there.

I think one of the main problems when using vmware is that it only allocates like 32-64 megs for video, from the memory you have allocated from your total system memory.

If I remember correctly. May be 128. Still, fairly low by todays standards. And from screenshots I see, most people are running a buttload of plugins nowadays.
