Subject: Do you have an active WoW subscription?
I watch the forums and patch notes hoping to one day re-subscribe. Currently there is nothing pulling me into an active WoW subscription. With SWTOR being a total flop (for me after a couple beta weekends) I'm looking for MMO options until Guild Wars 2 comes out. I enjoy Skyrim but most single-player games are not my thing. There is potentially enough content in Skyrim to keep me busy through the Christmas break. Anyway, I'm going on and on about nothing important so...

Do you play WoW currently?
Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?
Are you looking forward to MoP?
Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

Thanks for any feedback.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests? Not sure. DPS Queues for LFD seem to be on the order of 5-15 minutes but I have only run a dozen or so since I've started playing again a month or so ago.
Are you looking forward to MoP? Not even a little.
Do you think WoW is growing or dying? Dying.
Do you think Rift is growing or dying? No idea, never played Rift.

I played last month and early into this month, dps queues on Deathwing were 30-50 minutes on both Alliance and Horde.

Are you looking forward to MoP?
Not one bit.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
If we're speaking specifically on a subscription basis, I believe WoW has reached its peak and is on its decline. Where it plateaus only time will tell. If we're speaking on a development platform, my personal experience with the game has me feeling like its been dying since TBC's introduction. The Vanilla game had so much to build on and the developers decided to build out instead of up.

I feel like WoW should have been:

Instead we got:

I didn't make it past the first free month, barely kept up with it. No clue.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests? Most DPS Ques are under 15min.
Are you looking forward to MoP? Sure. We are looking forward to the new class, the new quests, and hopefully it will do what they say and bring more focus back to PVP.
Do you think WoW is growing or dying? All games are like people, they start dying as soon as they are released. Or well, when the next game is released lol.
Do you think Rift is growing or dying? See above. Rift was ok, but the end game wasn't enuff to hold us.

All that being said, is wow perfect? Heck no... but its still probably the best, most polished option out there for a fantasy MMO.

Also, I don't think Rift is dying. It isn't anywhere near as generally popular as WoW was, which is probably a good thing.

Do you play WoW currently?

I canceled my current sub a week ago, in preparation for SWTOR; it expires on 12/05. I'll continue playing until then.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?

I have only one character - 85 Human Mage - so I hang out in SW when queued. Average wait time is usually around 15 minutes.

Are you looking forward to MoP?

No. And if there's a Panda on the box cover, I am not buying the expansion.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?

DAoC is 10 years old now, and still sees at least several hundred people online during any given day. As long as WoW has a thriving subscriber base, it's not going anywhere any time soon.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

It's less than a year old, and just had 600k more people sign up in the last couple of months. That doesn't sound to me like the sign of a dying game.

I'm only playing very casually, and intend to stop my accounts for the first time since the game's release in Nov. 2004.
I will reactivate for MoP out of curiosity, to see the design of the new areas.
But I don't think WoW is even remotely close to dying.
Rift was and still is crap compared to WoW.

Yes.

"Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?"
Beats me, I quit doing dungeons a couple months ago. I get all my points in raiding, not that I'm spending any of it. Plus I'm a healer so I don't wait long.

"Are you looking forward to MoP?"
Hell no. I will most definitely be quitting before it gets released.

"Do you think WoW is growing or dying?"
Dying, and faster with every decision lately.

"Do you think Rift is growing or dying?"
No clue.

Sub ran on, so don't play.

DPS queues are still ridiculous as of two weeks ago.

WoW is dying no question. It will be up and running for a decade or more and will probably still have a couple of million of more subs even after the xpac. But to all the veteran players, the game is already dead. WoW will be a game for new players from here on out.

Do you play WoW currently?

Yes, I have two active subcriptions.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?

No, the vast majority of my game time involves me leveling up new toons via questing in areas I have previously missed or in areas that I really like. I rarely run any cata dungeons anymore, however I intend to run all of the patch 4.3 content once my last character hits 80 (I currently have 3 level 85's, six level 80's and two level 60's)

Are you looking forward to MoP?

No, while I have a wait-and-see approach about the new class/race and overall expansion pack theme, I feel that the talent changes, as they are currently proposed, are a step in the wrong direction and are going opposite of what most players want.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?

WoW is, and has been, on the decline from its peak back in WotLK. The subscription numbers and overall customer satisfaction surveys speak as much. However, it will take many years before WoW is "dead".

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

I think Rift still has some growth to it, though I do not expect much growth in overall active subscriptions from where it currently is at. Decent game but I just wasn't drawn in enough to stay.

Likely.

Are you looking forward to MoP?

No, but I'll buy a CE regardless ><

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?

It's done growing for the moment. I wouldn't say dying though. People are tired of what WoW has to offer, and almost all new games offer the same shyte, with very little more of interest. It will be a long time before WoW is "dying".

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

No idea. Rift never interested me.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?
Why would that change? Er, I mean, no clue.

Are you looking forward to MoP?
<fits of giggles> No.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
At "10 million", I don't think it's dying. The gameplay sounds like it's stagnating. And the devs here, (and unfortunately now also in SC) appear to be so self-focused, they are continuing to drive the game into further stupidity. I suspect, given most of the "new" players it is trying to attract (following in SoE's footsteps), it will be on auto-cruise for at least 3-4 more years. Unless suddenly everybody develops a 7-year itch.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?
Still more players coming in. Don't know if they will stay once other MMOs on the horizon hit. The devs are still listening, still reacting, still churning new content and I'm curious to see where they are headed. For the moment, it has one of the better communities available, reasonable gameplay adjustments based on objective data, experimentation with new game mechanics and that's good enough for me and my guild. Now, if they would JUST add RvR and a Darkness Falls-like dungeon, I can see us happily playing for a long while. tongue

Do you play WoW currently? - Yeah

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests? - Maybe if your dps. If your a tank its instant grin Bigtime on the repeat daily quests though, firelands is a daily grind. I think it takes like a month of doing dailys to advance it all the way.

Are you looking forward to MoP? - Yeah a little. Granted i still think it has a 50/50 chance to flop and really start a significant decline in subs if they screw it up.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying? - Slowly starting to decline but not die. It has a very long way to go. Example, AC is still active even though it passed its peak a decade ago.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying? - Prolly holding about even at this point. Its lost some of its original subs but is holding about even where it is now i think.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?Depends on how you play. When I queue for a random it takes about 20 min as a dps class. If you don't queue, you won't notice

Are you looking forward to MoP?Not as much as I initially thought

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?WoW is losing subscriptions, not sure if that means that it is dying, but it is definitely not what it once was

- My sub hasn't expired yet but I'm not playing. I was sick of WoW within a couple hours of starting my account back up. Once my sub runs out I think I'm done with WoW forever.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?
- The situation at endgame hasn't really changed. If you want to progress in PVE you either deal with the LFG system and the BS that comes with it, or you have to apply for a part time job as a raider and put up with guild BS.

Are you looking forward to MoP?
- Not at all. I can't think of a single feature that I'm excited about.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
- I think it's a bit early to say that WoW's "dying". However, WoW's definitely past its prime and seems to be having a midlife crisis right now. I expect the sub numbers to continue to slowly and steadily decline.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?
- I didn't even make it out of the starting zone before I was bored with Rift so I couldn't tell ya.

Alliance side here - not doing much grouping, but other leveling guildies do get the achieves for dungeons on a regular basis

Not particularly looking forward to it, but probably will get the collector's edition again.

Growing in size, dying in playerbase

No clue.

Are you looking forward to MoP?
No, it looks terrible so far.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
Neither. It is not dieing but it is not growing either. I just think the devs are slinging off players like crazy with their large, terribly thought out changes. If they would just settle down and stop F***ing with the game for a few minutes it might settle out and even grow again.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?
No clue, played at release but got too bored to keep bothering when I hit level 34 or so on a Rogue.

No, quit several months ago and doubtful if I ever return. Partially burnt out on WoW and partially dislike the direction of the game.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?

I don't remember it being that bad when I quit. The one thing the game never lacked was people.

Are you looking forward to MoP?

Nope, not even the slightest little bit.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?

Dying a slow death that will take many years to realize.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

Seems to be holding at wherever it is now. Nothing really wrong with this game other than WoW has pretty much already covered it all. Yes, Rift has a few cool things but nowhere near enough to distinguish itself from WoW.

>>Do you play WoW currently?

Yes. Both accounts expire 17 Dec so only 3 days to kill till Star Wars.

>>Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar
and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?

I gave up on instances 6 years ago. Between the time you are locked into doing only the one thing and the constant parade of morons you are frequently stuck with it just was not worth it for me.
I refuse to play a tank or healer, just too boring.

>>Are you looking forward to MoP?

No. However, let me pose you a question of my own. If you can play a combination DPS/Healer in a raid (actually, any situation would apply) ... who would NOT do so? People would have to be morons to NOT level up a Monk ASAP as any other class is going to be instantly kicked.

>>Do you think WoW is growing or dying?

Take a look it WoW graphics. Now look at GW2 graphics. GW2 is so much better it's hard to even compare them. Same can be said of the game play.
WoW is on the glide slope. It will take years to crash but it's time is past.

>>Do you think Rift is growing or dying?

I canceled my pre-order the day before it went live. As a WoW knock off it does not anything significant to the original. Day old bread for the same price as fresh is not going to get my interest.

Do you play WoW currently?
Yes. I'm not terribly active though compared to last year.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?
Queues-I believe so but honestly don't know since I haven't queued as anything but healer since June.
Dailies-Endless and repetitive as usual. Only now they're randomly repetitive!

Are you looking forward to MoP?
I'm watching it carefully but there's nothing yet that has made me say 'wow that's gonna be awesome!' I will still purchase and play it.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
Starting the downhill decline as every game must. Even WoW.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?
I've never played Rift.

Going to SWTOR next while keeping an eye on GW2. I will still keep an active WoW sub and plan to log in to play WoW at least once a week regardless of what other games I'm playing. But if it wasn't for WoWVault I'd probably have stopped playing WoW in July.

stopped playing wow 10 months ago. (Burned out was the major reason with the subsequent lower tolerance for bad changes.)

Never interested in Rift.

SWTOR on the horizon. It will hold my attention while leveling. Will it do the same at max level?? No way for me to tell.

Not for ~5 months or so.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests?
Not sure but the thought of waiting one of those out without the ability to queue for BGs still makes my ill.

Are you looking forward to MoP?
I'm done with WoW even if they come out with free gold bricks shipped to your house for all subscribers.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying?
Dying slowly (from what I hear).

Do you think Rift is growing or dying?
Growing slowly (personal experience). Low-level is lower in population. Level 50 is high. Much more endgame. Fewer re-rolls.

Canceled both accounts last week.

Do you play WoW currently? ... until the time runs out, then not sure.

Does the majority of the game still involve 40-minute DPS queues while everyone sits around Orgrimmar and an endless amount of repetitive daily quests? ... Depends on who you are talking to. I usually check the Tol Barad timer, see how long til the next battle. I was running some of the Firelands dailies, but slowly came to realize they are just another grind that seem to offer minimal rewards way down the road. My healers can get almost instant queues, but then get bitched at if someone dies. My DPS ... queue is considerable ... then get bitched at for not doing enough DPS.

Are you looking forward to MoP? ... Don't care. Diablo III should be out WAY before then.

Do you think WoW is growing or dying? ... It isn't still growing, is it? I mean, net subscription-wise. But, even if it is dying, it is dying about like our Sun is dying. A long slow process.

Do you think Rift is growing or dying? ... Not been there.

First account (with main, DK tank) expired today.
Second will expire the 28, so I can still do some PvP on my Druid while waiting for the SW:TOR early access.

I don't intend to reactivate before MoP. 4.3 is mostly crap, the Darkmoon Faire is fun the first time but then is a grind worse than the firelands one...

SWTOR: 50 Jedi Shadow (Tank), 50 Sith Marauder (Annihilation).
LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.

Got an annual pass, no way to terminate it that I can find.

So I just got to figure out how to get it banned.
