Subject: Steve Jobs was right. Adobe giving up on Flash for mobile devices.
Adobe Flash Player 11.1 will be the last version developed for mobile platforms. Instead they will encourage developers to use Adobe AIR and HTML5 going forward.

Flash Player will continue to be developed for desktops however, with version 12 in the works. But if all mobile platforms are killing support and a lot of people use these devices to access the web, I can't imagine Flash has much of a future left after this.

Adobe also laid off 750 people as part of restructuring.

Well iPhone is dominating the market, and Google doesn't have much of a reason to get in bed with Adobe, so they are doing the only thing left to do.

Should be interesting if they can live off the revenue from Photoshop, Premiere, and the other obscure programs.

Good. HTML5 is better anyways and doesn't require retarded add on's.

True, although it's not really an direct comparison. iPhone is full product with profit all going to one company (and telcos). Android is an OS that spreads the wealth.

All the same, Flash didn't stand a chance.

Rumor is Microsoft might be giving up on Silverlight as well (mobile and desktop). I'm pretty happy about that.

Android has more market share, but I agree that iPhone is dominating. happy

Just look at the control Apple and the iPhone has over the carriers. The carriers pretty much do what Apple says. Google and Samsung can't even get Verizon to advertise their flagship Galaxy Nexus.

Yea I saw that, I'm doing the happy dance. I hated having to support Silverlight.

A bit of unity would be a refreshing change.

How can they not, when the native (immersive) browser in Win8 support zero add ons?

Profits to one company has nothing to do with adobe dropping support to all mobile devices, because this isn't just android, it's blackberry's tablet and webos is losing adobe as well.

The story I read said that Adobe is going to keep patching flash for mobile devices just not make a version 12+ for them.
