It's crashing every time right when the char comes out of the portal in. Haven't changed anything and haven't had any problems up to this point.

Will the memlocs version number change? They didn't on my pc and just wanted to make sure there wasn't some sort of caching issue. I'm using www.virindi.net as the update server.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but is it a known issue that something changed in the way decal sends item names? It seems that the material type is no longer being sent in the same way it used to be (ie, Ivory Nekode now shows up only as Nekode, Leather Salvaged (100) shows up as Salvaged (100) ). I'm currently using 2.9.6.0/2.9.6.1 . Can't get 2.9.6.5 to work on any of the machines here so not sure if it's working in the newer version correctly or not.

I also noticed that the items tab in vtank shows shortened names for my weapons. Not sure if this was by design, apparently not.

They changed how item names are sent by the game so that the material name is not included in the name string.

Is it yet known if Decal will ever 'reinsert' the material name back into the name string as it once was, or should we begin adjusting scripts to work around this?

I use ACTools (I know I know) to run a tinker/salvage/craft bot. And given the fact that the developers long ago quit there's little chance of it ever being updated even if Decal makes that information available in a new way. (/e dreads the thought of relearning how to actually code in a real language.)

EDIT: Just to be clear, I am very thankful for all the work done by all the Decal devs past and present, and am acutely aware that it's not your responsibility to maintain compatibility to deprecated plugins. (But I can always dream!)

Decal will not be changed to give you a combined name when you ask for the name. It is possible there could be a property that gives you the combined name, but it probably won't happen.

Plugins should be adjusted to deal with the new behavior.

Check the turbine forums, Severlin said he fixed the bug for the next patch. Turbine's piss-poor QA strikes again. I imagine the material will be sent with the name (in the new order, I would assume, rather than the old one) after the next patch.

Sucks that a lot of plugins won't work for a month, but that's what Turbine gets when they don't actually TEST anything.

I don't go to the Turbine forums. They're too filled with suck-ups, "omg decal is satan", and "omg everything should be a quest and everything should have an annoying timer" people.

Upon checking Severlin's post on VN, I should probably point out that the 'fix' is not going to change how Decal works currently; I can't see any reason why the material would be back in the name next patch.

Items simply don't include the material in the name any more. The client makes it look like they do by adding it whenever it's displayed- it seems Turbine missed a couple of places where that needs to happen, but fixed it for the next patch.

There's a couple of other minor issues as well: Take the clothing formerly known as 'Long Leather Gloves': They're now 'Long Gloves' (note the double space). Probably because the search & replace they used to remove material names didn't take into account the possibility of the material name being in the middle.

Strictly speaking, this change has not 'broken' anything in Decal, it's just that names for things are different. No plugin should realistically care whether something's called 'Sword' instead of 'Steel Sword' or whatever; everything else is unchanged. The only plugins that would break are ones that actually check the name to find out what material an item is, but since they get told about the material separately at the same time as the name (and have done for a while), there's never been a reason to do this.

I don't go to the Turbine forums. They're too filled with suck-ups, "omg decal is satan", and "omg everything should be a quest and everything should have an annoying timer" people.

The post I was talking about is here:

Trade once again says "Silk Hood" instead of hood.

Salvage messages once again say "joeblow successfully applies the Steel Salvage (100) (workmanship 10.00) to the Leather Boots" instead of "joeblow successfully applies the Salvage (100) (workmanship 10.00) to the Boots."

I should also mention, in case you weren't already aware VI, that VTank now displays "Orb" instead of "Ivory Orb" in the Items list. Obviously that's a function of the material name no longer being part of the ID info in the place where it used to be.

Also, Virindi Item Tool can no longer hand Salvage. It has no idea what salvage is which and just hands bags of salvage until there are no more to hand.

Incidentally, gems now have NO name to a decal plugin; This is because the entire name of the object was just the name of the material.

I'm sure she'll fix it, it's a simple fix.
