I guess I should mention that I uninstalled it because of the reason until I can figure out how to fix the issue.

Which version of GoArrow were you using? (Classic or Virindi's ..)

When I look at your export here, I do not see it installed at all ...

Try editing Hosts file and add this line.

127.0.0.1 www.acmaps.com

You should be able to find the file here and edit with notepad.
\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts

You may have to restart your computer in order for this to work.

If acmaps comes back up you will have to remember to remove that line.

This didn't work for me. I still get the same web exception when logging in with goarrow on.

<{ GoArrow v2.0.0.0 }> Error [WebException]: Unable to connect to the remote server See errors.txt in the GoArrow folder for more info.

In that error.txt file I see the following repeated over and over and over:

Joe,

The error will be the same as from the 127.0.0.1 and the error of not getting to the acmaps.com ..

The difference would be a much quicker "time-out" with using the 127.0.0.1 .. it may not sit there as long waiting for the web site to answer.

Good call. It IS actually starting the AC client faster now, since it's not waiting the 3-4 seconds for the web request to time out.

Would be nice if GoArrow could be modified to do the network connecting in a separate thread so there is no delay on login.

Running Windows 7 64-bit, I can find my sample hosts file in a winsxs folder but not one that has been edited by the GoArrow install.

Are you saying to add this to the bottom of the sample hosts file (like below), and copy it to the System32 folder?

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

127.0.0.1 www.acmaps.com

Correct Chazcon

If the HOSTS does not exist, create one in the proper place and that correction above should speed things up.

If ACMAPS comes back, remove the entry.

Id kinda hope we could get a mirror going (with the owner's permission of course), but that remains to be seen.
My thinking is that there are a few of us that would, if only we could get a blessing. Such is life with copyrighted material.

ACCWiki (internal) is the only access for the moment to the maps.

If I had some cached maps can I put them in a specific folder on my computer and use the 127.0.0.1 option to allow them to show up ingame? or do I need to run a webserver to do that.

Joxer,

I'll be careful in my wording here. I also, have a cache copy of that site. Not for redistrubution, but for private use. His site was very basic in design (top down design). Thus, it is possible.

On the other hand, if you have the maps cache (especially if you got old computers like me) .. you can copy/paste them over to the folders used by programs such as GoArrow. The same file names for the maps are used. (Thus, the four characters you see always everywhere.) The main point here is .. if the map exist already, it will not have any reason to query the website for it (thus (#3), no error).

My feeling, is you knew part of this anyway.
