Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 High Power 2.1 232W RMS 8IN Subwoofer PC Speaker System

Bit more expensive than I am used too, but I hear they are awesome and every review I have read so far has been good.
Basically, I want something I can crank up so I can hear all the sound effects I normally would only hear on my headphones, but without having to plug my headphones in all the time (pain in the ass).

I will let you guys know how they sound after I get them tomorrow.

I have my headphones plugged into a G110 all the time. Works great - I can switch the output back and forth at will, but skype automatically routes to it. I also like having the ability to mute the mic from the keyboard, as the headphone mute seems to cause some sort of static.

that is way too expensive for a 2.1 system imo.

They look nice - Let us know how they sound!  They are expensive though - but I would consider those.  I dont have the space for my 5.1 system where my computer is now (well at least hanging the rear speakers)

Only 2.1 for that price?
Jeezus!

By the way, Mithan, if you want to, I quote, "hear all the sound effects I normally would only hear on my headphones", and MORE, nothing beats a 5.1 speaker system (except a 7.1 of course tongue ). You really hear effects, notably on the surround speakers, that you don't hear otherwise. Since I got mine, I'm addicted, and will never go back to anything without surround speakers.

Every review for these has been really positive. Sounds like they should be worth the price.

Mithan, if it's not too much personal, how much did you expected to pay for 2.1 speakers?

I recently paid £7 (about $11) for a pair of speakers for my second machine, got them at Asda (UK supermarket owned by Walmart).

They do the job, nothing fancy tho', I will admit wink !

Enjoy yours Mithan!

Usually you get just 1 speaker cone on most speakers you see for PCs. This corsair has a dome + mid, so more expensive and should by-default sound better then the 1 speaker cone designs. It does have good reviews.

I broke down and got the Logitech Z906 since could not find a better & cheaper 5.1 setup. While it does not compare to my tv setup, it is in league with any bose I heard.

I demoed 4 sets from Best Buy (ie- bought them, they sucked and then took them back).

Nothing allows me to crank them up loud and still keep audio fidelity. Hell, most wont even go "loud".

When I have to crank up speakers ALL THE WAY just to hear foot steps in Minecraft, you know there is a problem with them.

I really wish I could find some wall mountable computer speaker I hate that my speakers take up desk space.

I have the Logitech x530 for my computer, and they are amazing, specially if you consider they cost less than $80. Look up reviews, they are all positive. I think the "modern" version is the z506.

I sent the speakers back.

They were awesome, but the problem is that the subwoofer was too big.

When I say "awesome" I mean they are LOUD and don't distort and reproduce sound excellently.

I've used both the Klipsch and the Logitech Z2300, and I don't think they are "crappy", they just are not $325 :P At any rate, there are a lot of reviews on amazon that make me question any supposed superiority they might have.

Klipsch older 5.1 stuff was actually pretty good for the time it was released, just little pricy. Creative speakers are crap, I got cheap pair that died in few years. This is what started me looking for replacement. I was using my quad altec's from '99 till I got the z906's on sale for 300.

Kinda wish z906's were 250, but could not find a better option for myself. I wanted little more juice then the x530 happy .

Initially I thought something like Mirage MX 5.1 would be cool till I saw the price beatup , and would still need a receiver. The problem is picking up 5 "good" speakers + a cheap receiver is way too much. There are much better options but you are basically going into home entertainment area and would need a sound-card that supported DTSConnect/DDLive. I can live with the compromise of what I got. They work pretty well for games. If I am going to watch a movie, well I got my HTPC and a nice system for the TV.
