First of all im not trying to piss anyone off. Ive played all MMos. DAOC and WoW being my favorites. I never cared for Guild Wars, but after watching this 7min video listing the 10 reasons to be interested in Guild Wars 2. i have to say im blown away.
Alot cool thing, it shows some stuff on wow (nothing bad) and shows what they doing new.
Im bored right now and curious what your guys comments are and if you trhink the ideas will work. Especially with reason #1 which is no healers, or tanks in this game. its says every class will have heal abilitys but noone will have the role of standing back and just healing.

i like the idea of no main healer in PVP, now it will actually be about the fighter and his defensive abilities and not about who was getting healed. Ive also been waiting for a game to do 3way realm vs Realm again like DAOC did.

As I have gotten older and thanks to my carpel tunnel, I have lost most of my twitch factor and the combat looks super twitchy. I do miss the days of slide casting and dodging back in Asheron's Call... but I just can't do it anymore. Hell, there are days I can't even pvp my rogue cause my carpel tunnel is too bad.
For me now, the button pushing and auto attacks in wow are perfect for me.

Im a PVP person myself but shit... the personal storyline its pretty cool, reminds me of fable. Read somemore and even the crafting system is cool, you dont buy recipes but rather discover them by mixing random engredients together so each crafter is unque with his own things he can craft

i was hyped up for SWTOR, but after being in beta i am disappointed. the quick 7min video gives me hope! i like the fact of 3 realms, not sure why it took a company to implement that again.
i like the fact that is skill based, and also you can visit lower lvl content and it will scale. another great aspect of the better skilled player taking on higher lvl content, because they are simply a better player.

That's true, but asking for something actually new is like asking a politician to go against popular opinion and do the right thing. It's far, far too risky for the current crop of MMO developers.

Looking at that video; if memory serves the core development team for Guild Wars were once developing for WoW and left because they did not like the direction WoW was going,(they brought Ghostcrawler aboard). If my memory is chronologically correct, seeing how awesome GW2 is looking and the current state of WoW I wonder how much the higher ups at Bliz are regretting the decisions they made back then.

They pretty much hit my full wish list. Except I also wish for a release date.
They seem to borrowing town invasions and auto grouping from Rift.
Limited skills from themselves.
Achievements from WOW
Personal instanced section of a town? Some for of housing.
Self sufficient characters...they stole that from me since i always tried for that by using hybred characters in other games. 
And last but the best is no monthly fee. Might make it my retirement home game

I hope the combat is exactly what they say it is.
Basically like Dark Souls, you can die easily but live nearly forever if you know how to block/dodge/avoid the right attacks and counter at the right time.

It almost seems like its taking on the style of a FPS, it says ranged classes have to aim and cant just "lock on" like other games. Even when you run out of health and your in the down state. Allies have to get to you and get you back up in the fight, its just like Call of Duty, Borderlands, and Army of Two. Im pretty excited for this combat system, even melee can miss if you dodge out of the way.

I played the demo at ComicCon, and was kinda bored the 10 minutes of doing PvE questing EXACTLY LIKE WOW. But after watching this video, I'm ready to give it another shot!
If only a game can be as cool as it sounds on paper... if only. We shall see.

With no monthly fee, that alone will make this game worth the purchase. Since the game automatically equalizes you when you enter PVP (like many/most console FPS games), that alone will keep me amused for a few months minimum.
No fee + PVP purely skill based with no gear advantages = total win.

Will there will still be some level advantages in that higher level has a wider array of abilities (or whatever this game calls them) available? That's the way all the games I've seen that "equalize" in PvP instances have done it so far.
Definitely looks like the last MMORPG I'll be playing one way or another. Either it won't live up to anything close to how it seems in theory and I'll be done or I'll be playing it off and on for a long time.

Actually yes, all characters are bumped to max level automatically, all characters are given a set of weapons, and all armour is the same, at least based on armour type I think I could be wrong, stats are also like wise static. There is no statistical advantage. Skills are where skillful play comes in and choosing the right weapon set since your skills are based on what what weapon you use. They also havea different stat sets for PVP skills and PVE variations of those skills.
Every aspect of PVP will be based on how well you understand weapon sets.the set of skills these give you and how effective they are.against other players.

So for every quest you went to a quest giver and he had a marker floating above his head and then you had to run back to the quest giver to hand in that quest? I know that to complete many of the DE's it will be similar to the other quest types found in all other MMO's and fulfill similar parameters, Kill X number or do this or that. Yet, the simple fact that I am not set into running back and forth to complete quests, with the exception of the Personal Story line which does follow a normal quest system, and can just explore the world and do questing when I see fit is what has me excited. I mean watch Part 2 of the TB video and all of a sudden he comes across a little fort, helps reclaim the fort, the fort gets controlled then he moves right onto an escort quest. He has the OPTION, something that many have been crying about in MMOs becoming to linear in leveling path, to do the escort quest or to continue to explore the zone and find possibly another DE in the area.
Also the world is not a static world, not doing a DE can have dire consequences that changes what parameters then must be met. This isn't some BS phasing, the world can actually change before you as bandits can all of a sudden take over a town and then branch out from that town. Using the TB video, if he hadn't gone up to help recapture that fort, that fort would have been claimed by those attackers and used to launch further attacks.
This level of exploration for me is what has been missing from the MMO Genre and it is one of the primary reasons I enjoy playing other single player RPGs, like Fallout 3.
As you said, we shall see...

This isn't some BS phasing, the world can actually change before you as bandits can all of a sudden take over a town and then branch out from that town. Using the TB video, if he hadn't gone up to help recapture that fort, that fort would have been claimed by those attackers and used to launch further attacks.
This level of exploration for me is what has been missing from the MMO Genre and it is one of the primary reasons I enjoy playing other single player RPGs, like Fallout 3.
As you said, we shall see...
Rift was billed as not being a static world too..you will have to defeat the rifts / invasions or they will overrun the town and remove your quest hubs!!!! Uh..yeah..quest hub overrun? Go take a dump..all will be well when you are done.
Hopefully GW2 improves on "the world is not static" routine! We can only wait and see.

You see you fail to understand, as most normally do, that there are no quest hubs. The DE's are the "quests", the only normal quests like those found in traditional MMOs are the personal story quests. You don't run up and get a quest from a quest hub giver, all you can do is run up to a scout that will show you were possible DE's are taking place.

So in essence you are no longer running from town A to quest stop B in order to kill five of mob C to bring back to npc D? Now the focus of the game is to explore and change the landscape by your actions however you see fit?

First time since WoW came out that I've seen something I might want to try. I never thought I would move for Ashron's Call but WoW did it for me. The no monthly fee is another draw. I'll keep and eye out for beta.

You will have to expand on that one Arc. Phasing technology aka blizzard is some borked-up version where 2 people can stand beside each other and see different "phase" of the world around them. -> screws up grouping with friends etc.
This is dynamic changing world where the environment changes for everyone in one direction or another. So meta wise it is changed "phase" -> agree with you on that...but I do not see the correlation to Blizzards (weak) implementation.

Indeed, dynamic content is the next step on the evolutionary ladder of phasing technology. But MMOs (and SW in general) have limited bandwidth to grow from their current state.
That being said, if GW2 can execute their ideas, this does represent a potential "next gen" of mmo.
No month fee -> excellent start. When I pay a month fee, I feel "obliged" to log in to get my moneys worth. No fee = log in when you want, no commitment needed. Once this is not a "pay to win" model, then that is a big big +
Eliminate "time sinks" -> believe it when I see it. Again a true idea I think we can embrace. Make my gametime fun and engaging please.
PVP instances -> no "gearing". instant play level playing field. About time. This does offer the instant, level playing field that the genre is missing.
World v world v world -> if they can capture the magic that was daoc, they have a potential winner on their hands for a signficant portion of disaffected gamers.
sidekicking -> Good idea, want to see the implementation. But finally, you can play with friends whenever/whereever without have to "reroll" fresh character just for that purpose. (big issue for me grouping with friends who level at different rates).
Dynamic world content. -> I love the idea. I hope it is implemented well. The prospect of rolling an alt, with the zones in different phases of the evolution of that zone, is appealing. (ie seperate from ones own actions and the blizzard phasing idea).
Is GW2 an instant win? hell no....but the stars are aligning in the right direction, and the question is, can they deliver on their ideas and provide us with an FUN game with focus on gameplay?

I wonder how long before there is an answer to this on the net. Remember, AC was supposed to have the same deal with spells. It worked for the first week, then someone figured out it was attached to the username and you had your personal spell lists everywhere on the net.
I hope they can accomplish true random, but I doubt it.
