they've made the uac as annoying as it was in vista. i'm getting pop ups asking me if i want my programs to have access whenever i do ANYTHING. plain it gives me one for thundirbird, firefox, loading torrent files into utorrent, downloading files from ff. i can't wait to see what happens when i open the other stuff i don't use that often. i didn't see a "yes and goddamn stop asking" option either. so everything makes it happen every time. plain ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

The first thing I do when I install Win7 (for myself) is turn off UAC. I leave it on for people who should not be installing ANYTHING though haha.

My UAC didn't start doing that after the update. Hmm.

Same here. And I'm the only one using my computer.

I haven't noticed any change since the updates on either of my machines, both of which have the default UAC settings.

I've always wished since Vista days that there was an "always remember this answer" option. However, it seems a lot less intrusive under Windows 7 which is why I haven't bothered to change the default settings. I only get prompted on a couple of the things I run.

What I wish they would fix is the stupid dialog box spawning asking you if you want to switch to lower graphic quality (turn off Aero) even when it's absolutely not needed. If you click "no, and I don't want to see this again", it doesn't work, and the dialog comes back later.

If anyone has a trick to definitely remove that crap, I'll be thankful.

EDIT:

I mean this message (3DMark 11 is a good way to spawn it):

EDIT2:

Posting this made me want to search again (last time was over 6 months ago), and I apparently finally found the solution:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/70829-program-compatibility-assistant-enable-disable.html

Disabled that crap, and apparently, it fixed the "problem". Ran 3DMark 11 3 times without it appearing, even though it appeared each time inevitably before.
Hopefully this can help other people who have the same annoyance.

Never had that kind of problem. Maybe it's a setting you changed or you got somekind of update bug.

I haven't had any issues either since the last update and I would not turn off UAC. I'd find out what was causing that behavior.

that's weird. i have it set at the lowest just before off completely and it's still doing it. i noticed after the patch, it was set one above the max. it's still doing it when any torrent program kicks in and it did it when steam updated one of my games. plain guess i'll have to turn it off. i'm always super careful but since the old uac wasn't an annoying pos, i didn't mind it asking when i was installing stuff but jesus. this is ridiculous.

It happens even to people with the best of the best. For some reason, Windows 7 seems to think Aero is harming performance when it's not even close to do so.
Anyway I got rid of it, case closed. Not to mention it also suppresses other annoying and useless messages.

Hrm just installed the latest update, and have had no change to UAC either.

i wonder what made my uac go wonky after the update then. i've turned it off because 90% of what i do was popping up a request on me.
