We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in lieu of that.

	iOS5 released today. And it's like the ice cream truck just pulled up in front of the Weight Watchers meeting and two dozen fat people running for the doorway at once... There were injuries, damages, and a few people got trampled. With god knows how many millions of iPhones, iPods, and iPads out there, I imagine the download error messages shouldn't have been too surprising. -----signature----- (none)

	Updated my iPad to iOS 5. Now I can no longer launch any applications. iPaperweight. Awesome. sigh Update: I found the problem. The restore process looks different and I think I thought it was finished when it wasn't. You'll no longer see a big "SYNC IN PROGRESS" message like before. Only a tiny sync icon in the system tray (device can apparently be somewhat used while syncing now, unlike before). -----signature----- (none)

	Took 3 mins to download for me. So far not overwhelmed from the point of view of doing it for an Iphone 4. The biggest thing Id have liked isnt available, ie faster access to the camera. Video doesnt work on one app, but probably just needs an update - the sound works but stays on app screen. Edit: Doh, wireless sync is great. so scratch the underwhelmed. Edit edit: Double doh The camera is there, didnt realise had to doubleclick for the icon to show. Otara -----signature-----

	The patch notes above mentioned this, that I was looking forward to on my iPad 1... "Multitasking Gestures for iPad * Use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen * Swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar * Swipe left or right to switch between apps" But I found none of these gestures actually worked on my iPad. After Googling for an answer, I came across this... http://www.gmanews.tv/story/235192/technology/ios-5-takes-away-multi-touch-from-original-ipad-says-tech-site Apparently Apple removed the features from the final iOS 5 for iPad 1 users (oddly the patch notes don't note it's an iPad 2 only feature, like it does some other features). This just pisses me off, to intentionally not give software features to older products for no other reason than to try to force people to upgrade. -----signature----- (none)
