As Captain Kirk he was an icon. Now he's...well he's a has been. He takes whatever job comes along to pay the bills. Not that I can blame him. I'm rather sad to see it personally. Watched his Puss N Boots movie and it was weird to say the least. NOT the Antonia Banderas one coming out, a different one that has a lot of French influence in it. He does Puss's voice and it's...like he's trying his darnedest (danrdest?) not to sound like himself.

william shatner basically always plays himself. it was a good persona for captain kirk, and he became such a celebrity for that role that it didn't really matter [success-wise] what he did/does after

[i've heard boston legal is quality, though i personally haven't seen it]

i don't think he'd make anyone's list of great actors, but he's generally self-aware enough that he's still liked and has a decent rep

one more thing: he's probably my least favourite star trek captain, out of all the ones i'm familiar with

he was good in Boston Legal and can't fault a guy for doing commercials/odd shows to stay busy or make a few bucks off his fame.

Shatner is a Shakesperian trained actor from what I understand, which is why is always so dramatic. The fact that he played Kirk gives poeple the type in their mind, and whether he wanted to or not he couldn't ever escape that role. He is a has been, but that is true of pretty much every old actor. It does sadden me to see him doing commercials for local ambulance chaser lawyers though.

He really can't sing. I like it better when he doesnt try and just does the speaking lines.

also, clearly heavy use of auto-tune in that video.

I have a place in my heart for him because I remember when I was like 6-7 years old. I would go down the street to my friends house and we would watch Star Trek because they had a color TV. These were first airings. lol

He's the voice of Ozzie!! The possum in Over the Hedge, he does great! "But it might have been a predator!" Now that was an impressive piece of voice acting. The puss n boots stuff, total turn off. Just realized it was him the other day while my daughter was watching it.
