Subject: Gaheris September Report
Hello! Below is the September Mentor Report for Gaheris submitted to Mythic. If you feel like something is missing or have additional feedback, please reply happy

Overview
  • Despite its below average population, Gaheris still has a solid and consistent playerbase with constant immigrants from Ywain and European servers.

  • Guild vs. Guild
  • With Molvik put on the back burner, and plans to merge Gaheris with Mordred scrapped, its chance at seeing a significant appeal to those seeking a player vs. player alternative is all but erased. While this may seem contradictory to the "PvE only" ruleset, PvP is where DAoC shines. Recent patches have indicated that PvP is DAoC's focus, and Gaheris should be apart of that, as only token PvE updates are implemented.

  • Encounter Issues

  • Orseo Keep (Cathal Valley):Many people are unsure of whether or not the issue has been fixed at the main keep, as nothing has been mentioned in the patch notes. Below is a short description, please disregard if it has been fixed.
    CV Bug posted:
There is a bug that results in the main part of the keep being inaccessible because of the barrier that is up. This barrier is intended to keep people from killing the lord of the keep without killing the first boss. However, for an unknown reason, (my speculations as to why will be listed below) the first boss does not spawn resulting in the keep stagnating because no one can kill the lord to reset the keep.

My guess is that people are killing the first boss, but are unable to kill lord, and over time, the barrier respawns. My second guess is that people are unable to kill the first boss, and the first boss despawns. Either way, once this happens, players have to wait for the server to reset (usually when patches are released) in order to be able to take Orseo keep.

  • Class Issues

  • Assassins, Light Tanks and Maulers: Assassins and Light Tanks have little they can do in a group setting. They cannot tank, as they wear leather/studded armor and have no shield or higher magic resists. Assassins cannot dps effectively as their poisons are often resisted on higher level mobs. Assassins and Light Tanks cannot produce competitive single target dps as compared to a caster with a focal mythirian on higher level mobs. I recommend a “PvE only” style (named Blade Dance?) in Critical Strike and dual wield lines that acts as a PBAoE style hitting all mobs around the Assassin or Light Tank.

  • Item Problems

  • There is currently a long-standing bug that reduces a caster’s damage to 0 when the strength relic fragments (Thor’s Hammer Fragment, Excalibur’s Scabbard Fragment, and Lug’s Spear of Lightning Fragment) absorb buff are combined with the power relic fragments (Cauldron of Dagda Fragment, Merlin’s Staff Fragment, and Horn of Valhalla Fragment) 20% magic damage buff. What happens is, shortly after both buffs are used, the spell damage shows in the combat logs as significantly high numbers in the negatives (for example, -85216), though they do 0 damage.

  • Master Level Issues

  • While various abilities are rendered useless in PvE (in some cases for good reason), the Master Level path that needs review is Stormlord. Many would like to see these storms usable in PvE.

    Some decent suggestions.

Perhaps with stealthers on gaheris get rid of the ten second re-apply rule for poisons or even the requirement to be stealthed on critical strikes styles? Having to wait ten seconds then applying poison or going stealth again is a bit harsh in pve imo.

Might also want to point out that anything that helps a stealther on Gaheris helps them level on Ywain.

Stealthers ABS debuffs are quite effective in a group setting. Its just not used as often as it should be. Other than that, allow Flurry to work in PvE!

I like the Flurry and no 10 second poison reapplication thoughts.

i always thought the poisons should not be resistable in pve and should not be removed from pve.

i dont think a pbae style is the answer. right now guard+pbae is amazing defense and offense. even if a pbae style was half the dps of caster pbae, which isnt going to happen, it still wouldnt be as good as guard+pbae because the defense is still lacking.

in swg commandos have dots, similar to the dots in daoc. when they first use a dot its fairly week, but you can apply it again when the cool down cycles through and it doubles in potency, and then again and again up to 10 times. i think light tanks and assasins need something like this where they build damage over time. i think heretic works this way so if they could find a way to translate that to melee combat for light tanks and assasins that would be nice.

by the way things like this would make me consider coming back after dec 15th.

    Just a question.

I see some on Ywain are advocating strongly for a thug nerf, how might this affect pve on Gaheris?

It would make some encounters much tougher... like Dagda, and a few other encounters. Probably get some folks pretty po'ed, but I think people would just rethink how to do em eventually. I'm not for it on gaheris though.

I think the strength relics is where you'd see a significant increase in challenge if theurgist pet spam was nerfed. I personally haven't seen too much crying about theurgs, and the likelihood Mythic nerfing them after generally keeping them the same way they have been for 10 years is pretty slim. I suppose it certainly isn't impossible, though, they did nerf BD's pet assist, and we all know how they pooched animists.

I guess it would depend on how Mythic would 'nerf' theurgs. I mean, I don't see any point in lowering the cap amount of pets on a single target, as most theurgs are lucky to get 2 or 3 in most situations (in RvR). If they lowered the overall cap of casted pets to 3 or 4, that would be pretty devastating to theurgists as far as their PvE use goes. If that did happen, I would probably try and get as much support from the community to help send feedback forms suggesting that they make this cap for RvR only.

Thugs took a pet cap nerf way back already. Time was the only limit on pets out was based on your power bar and how fast you sould spit them out
