First link doesn't have anything about GC in it.

From the second link:
While the game may continue to go strongly for a long time, do you think WoW may have hit its peak subscription number at all?

Ghostcrawler:
I mean, gosh, that is so hard to know. It’s really
hard to tell what is… you know it’s a seven-year-old game at this point.
We don’t have really any examples of games that have remained so
popular for so long to really know what the future might bring. We
certainly understand that some players have just gotten their fill of
World of Warcraft, and the kind of things we would have to do to provide
really interesting new features for them risks changing World of
Warcraft into something else. We have to be really careful not to
overhaul the game so dramatically that people who love the game fall out
of love with it.
At the same time, it is a rough economy going on,
summers are always a little light, and periods between expansions are
always a little light, so we’ll see how things look after another
expansion or two.

Did he really just say what I think he said? THEN WHAT THE HELL WAS 4.0/CATACLYSM YOU JACKASS?!?

I don't know either, can someone touted as a game design genius really be that oblivious to his own failures?

Perhaps his overwhelming arrogance has wrapped him in blanket of impenetrable denial.

how do they not understand that worlk was so much better in just about every aspect compared to cataclysm... yet insist on making things better for the elite raiders? making things harder for the casuals....

they once said the point of wow's success was that the casuals could play this game and compete... i've really fallen out of favor of wow fairly quickly the last couple months because of things like this.

buying tier gear with valor was the only way for me to get some of my gear this expansion. wotlk i was able to PUG both a 10 and 25 man EVERYTHING and in cata i can;t find a pug to do a damned heroic and not wipe. it's stupid. i play this game to experience the dungeons and raids and they have made it harder and harder to do that. i've done half of firelands and its too hard to get through normal with my group that ends up having 1-2 people not able to raid every time we try to raid so we take pugs and make no progress.... in wotlk we could grab 2 pugs and still make progress and it was fun.

imo, the best was 10/25 man on seperate lock outs, easier to do normals(ie pugs can clear) and then heroics actually be the difficult one. building in a buff like in icecrown was nice, it let them not change ANYTHING about their encounters and was a built in way to let people progress regularly through content.

yet here they are.. we can't change anything or people will leave..... hint hint, people have left and are going to continue to leave if you don't make things easier. some will complain about being hand fed everything and that things are too easy... and all you have to do is look at the sub numbers for wotlk vs sub numbers for cata..... wotlk people complained it was "too easy" yet they didn't quit to the tune of 600,000+ like they did when cata came out and complained it was too hard.

Yep even the regular 5-man Cata Heroics are still a wipe fest which is why I stopped doing them on all three of my 85's I don't even entertain the thought of trying to pug a Cata raid. However like you I did them all in wotlk on a regular basis.

You guys are totally discounting the .01% of the wow population that was crying for their game to be this hard and think that CAT is the best expansion ever.

Of course that .01% is made up of Ghostcrawler and his buddies!

It's truly surprising to watch a game company kill such a winning formula in such short a time. It's amazing to watch the lead dev demonstrate that he's absolutely oblivious to the reality of his teams decisions during such a decline.

It really makes you wonder where the disconnect is, and why it has lasted for so long. An extreme case of cognitive dissonance is my guess. Because widespread opinion and falling numbers don't lie.

Got to love the comment which confirms that only gear allows healers to feel able again. In wording, the nerf can be overcome by lots of gear, until we need to move the bar again

They're making the Raid Finder at the Derp Difficulty, and you'll get tier pieces from it. Just lower ilvl, but if you're doing Derp Difficulty raids, do you really need the same gear?

What does the ilevel for gear even matter? If you're going to do Raid Finder dungeons, it's geared towards clearing it with Raid Finder drops. If they make the gear better, they'd have to make it harder. Oh wait, that's called Normals. Heroics are the same thing.

iLevel shouldn't matter, I thought people just wanted to clear the dungeons and get the loot? If you want to do the harder things, then find a better guild. I really don't see the problem. If you can't clear hard modes with your guild/friends, then your guild/friends suck, you should be happy they're adding in the new difficulty so you CAN complete the raids.

Raid finder with 25 PuG turds is a bad idea anyway, no matter the difficulty and gear level.
Why not 10 man?

It's sometimes already hard to deal with 4 others in 5 man dungeons when you're unlucky and land with a bunch of turds. I just can't imagine this working well with 24 others of the same kind.

Does this remind anyone of separate drinking fountains? You know, one for the Casuals (blacks) and one for the Elites (whites). The Casuals drinking fountain is just fine and puts out the same water, so please pay us 15 dollars per month to get treated like a second class player cause you don't have the lifestyle or take the game seriously enough to play hardcore.

How is it their fault you're bad at the game and can't clear normals? Heroics are for the hardcores, the normal modes are quite easy and have been since Cataclysm started.

I just don't understand what people are complaining about with the current raiding tier. Casuals can raid now, if you find a casual guild. You can clear Firelands in under 3 hours once you have it down, on normal modes.

Then you're in luck--

Normal difficulty

• Shannox, Beth’tilac, Rhyolith - health and damage reduced by 15%.
• Other bosses - health and damage reduced by 25%.
• All adds’ health and damage have been reduced in the same proportions as bosses.
• Hellhounds and Unstable Magma deal much less damage.
• Alysrazor’s Fiery Tornados move slower.
• The Wings of Flame buff duration on Alysrazor is now uniformly 30 seconds.
• Alysrazor drops 1 additional feather for 10-player mode and 2 additional feathers for 25-player mode in all cycles.
• Wrath of Ragnaros in Stage 1 now knocks targets up, but not back.

I actually agree with you, Normals should be training wheels for Elitists to get to Hardcore modes and Normals should be the whole raid for "casuals". It just doesn't work like that in Cata. VERY few PUG raids work or get anything accomplished. Only PUG raiding I have ever read about was "Firelands trash runs".

And people are complaining that you can't just jump into Normal raids like you could in WOTLK. You have to be | this tall to ride the ride or gtfo in Cata and their players are losing interest and leaving.

I know this is hard for a lot of elitist types to understand but real life does not equal video game. In real life it is dog eat dog. You gotta work really hard to get anything accomplished or at least work really hard to be in the right place at the right time. But in a video game, I just want to relax and I bet most folks do as well as seen with the large subscription losses of late.

Good analogy. What elitist/hardcore players fail to understand is that everyone else approaches this game as a game. When it stops being a fun game, and approaches anything resembling some real life equivalent of work or tasks, you lose those people. I thought Blizzard understood this when they elevated WoW beyond the old model and into something that could be enjoyed by the masses. Then they dropped a big turd on all of their work with Cata.

You're not even trying to make a point, you never are. Stop trolling and have an opinion.

I guess you really can't when you aren't even subbed to WoW anymore though, I guess.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess some folks get lonely and figure arguing with themselves over points few others care about makes for good times. Like taking comments about nobody raiding because 5-mans are overly tedious already and making it into some nebulous whine about gear iLevels, or that people chuckling at raid-finder's apparent lack of foresight into what made WotLK successful had anything at all to do with skill.

Regarding the new "LFRaid" tool, I wonder if they're going to allow you to LFR all current and past raids, or only the current top-tier ones.
