Subject: Arrgh! My new internet won't play nice with AC!
Hello fellow TD players! The good news is that I've just started using my only wireless connection through Comcast instead of mooching off of my old neighbors' open connection. The bad news is that I can connect to AC without any problems, but when I try to log into AC, my character remains a purple swirly figure for 2-3 minutes, then I DC from the game. Has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions to fix it?

The reason I posted this on the server board is also to let my fellows in WS' allegiance and my other friends know about my disappearance until I can get this sorted out :P

I have read about this problem when looking into a different one, if you delete some of the AC registry files it should work. Lemme look through my msg history here...

Not quite the same problem, but:

"April 15th, 2010 - Link
Q: All of a sudden when I launch AC, both vials fill up, and then acclient crashes. This is happening on both of my computers?

A: It sounds like you might have a corrupted dat file.
Your .dat files are in your AC folder. One thing you can do to avoid a complete reinstall is to delete one file and re-patch to see if that fixes the issue. I'd try to do this with these files first.

client_cell_1.dat client_highres.dat client_internal.dat client_local_English.dat client_portal.dat

I know I have read about your problem before though. Should be able to find and answer somewhere

Thanks Daernwyn - I tried it but had the same issue, except that less of my character info loaded than previous attempts.

The second reason that I think it is related to my connection is because I play on two different computers, and both had the problem simultaneously.

It maybe the modem itself, or worse something going on at the isp. I know I never had luck running AC on those modems that combine wireless routing and or digital phone into one device, some people may have different results but I didn't. Your neighbor have the same isp but a different modem? If so that would strongly point to the culprit.

I think comcast is the only provider in our area, so same provider. Oddly enough, my neighbor and I are both using a Belkin router, but mine is likely a different model. It's the previous tenant's router, which was very tricky to set up and rather...fussy..., so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that is where the problem lies. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm stuck with it for the time being. Hrmph.
