It is showing up for me as down.
I have been trying to work on decal and get it working all day but their website isn't responding.
Is anyone else having this problem?

It would be good to have one separate, always-on mirror of the decal installer along with the latest beta. Perhaps sourceforge or something like that? The decal dev webserver seems to be less than fully reliable. Surely there is some other free site/service that can reliably and securely mirror the files...

I wouldn't post them. Right now they are only temporary download locations, not actual mirrors. Since they will probably only be maintained as-needed, it is better to not mention them unless they are needed.
Like I said before, the real thing will probably be online again tomorrow. If that server has had a hardware failure, I will go ahead and complete the move to the new location w/o finishing the new site.
It's only been a few days so just wait it out. It's not like we have a huge influx of new people to the game...

Dark, they've had LONG standing policy of only approved mirrors, those (few) approved mirrors have ALWAYS been Decal Core Dev controlled. It's not personal, it's policy. Honestly I support this policy, while the potential for mischief is low, the damage caused if it WERE to happen could be IMMENSE....

With respect, this is a fairly short-sighted attitude. There's no massive influx of new people, yet every time the Decal server goes down there's a post quite quickly on these forums.
I have the greatest of respect for you, VI, Haz, and everyone else who puts their time and effort into maintaining Decal. I would bet 50+% of people in AC would not be playing right now if it was not for you folks keeping Decal running, but not having a stable, safe, officially-sanctioned alternative download source is short-sighted in the extreme. It's not like there's a shortage of reliable, secure, and safe hosting services out there. I strongly urge you to consider uploading 2.9.6.0 and the latest beta to one of them.

For the Decal Gurus I thank you for all you do!
I love AC and Decal makes it even better!
I'm a returning player and having lots of problems with decal atm.
I have now installed it but every time I go to update it says the host is unavailable.
Should I copy and paste my Error that I get here to see if its just me or if no one can DL anything atm?

I have downloaded Decal from that source and it still wont let me update anything and all of my boxes are red.
I hope I am not having a problem that is shown how to fix somewhere else.

I'm getting this error, only when I try to run AC with decal, no problem logging into AC without it.
acclient.exe - unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because d3dx9_36.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Also, I re-installed decal thinking I was the problem initially with the update site being down, I re-installed, moved the files VI posted from the link, now the only red "x" I have in the decal is under surrogates for Version 1 plug-in Surrgoate.
Thoughts>??

Sounds like you need to install the DX files required for Decal. When installing Virindis plugin, there is a button labeled "check libs". Click this and it will check to see if you are missing any files and direct you to the ones you may be missing.
Also, the surrogate keeps the red X.

You actually have to dl the files to the decal install folder. Or dl them anywhere then move them into the decal folder. Right click the file link, click "save file as...", then make sure you have the decal3.0 directory selected, then click save. Don't rename them or do anything else.

You either need to point decal at VI's mirror or DL and install the XML from VI's site into the decal directory manually, the automatic ways are FUBAR atm due to the server issues. I'm not even sure if VI's mirror is setup to have decal pull the XML directly, the only way may be the DL and manual install.

Followed the instructions here:

Then got decal and the xml's from virindi's site.
Decal turns on and got the black check marks. Looks good.
Log on to AC but decal just isn't there.
Couldn't remember if decal was supposed to be inside the AC folder or not so I tried putting decal inside and when I did that, AC won't load and I get an error message.
Tried moving it back out (now there are two folders in "games": "Decal 3.0" and "Turbine") and I can log in again but no decal again.

Decal turns on and got the black check marks. Looks good.
Log on to AC but decal just isn't there.
Couldn't remember if decal was supposed to be inside the AC folder or not so I tried putting decal inside and when I did that, AC won't load and I get an error message.
Tried moving it back out (now there are two folders in "games": "Decal 3.0" and "Turbine") and I can log in again but no decal again.
Windows 7 64 bit.

I run both as an admin and it doesnt work. I can get ingame with 2960 but theres no decal bar.
When I tried 2965 it wouldnt even let me to the character screen, at the initial loading screen for AC it errors out says ac client has stopped responding..

I'm trying to get decal set up on my laptop and I hit:

Gafoon, you need to manually update the decal files from Virindis mirror.
Midnight....redownload the decal files from Virindis mirror, making sure you get all of them listed.
I had the same problem you had. I uninstalled and reinstalled 2.9.6.0, dl'd the updated files, and then ended up having to do them a second time. After the second time everything worked fine.
