We have begun early media and fansite outreach in preparation for the upcoming Diablo III beta test. The email they are receiving clearly states that we do not have a date to announce for the start of the beta test.
While we appreciate the interest in the beta test, we?d like to take this opportunity to caution everyone of potential phishing attempts or scams. Emails from Blizzard Entertainment will NEVER ask you for your password, and if you are selected for participation in the beta test, you won?t need to click any links in any corresponding email that you?d receive from us. When the time comes, players accepted into the beta test will be able to sign in to their account at www.Battle.net and see a Diablo III Beta license as one of their game licenses, as well as the ability to download the beta.

Has nothing to do with ethics or an NDA, they're free to talk about that crap all the time. You can choose to believe me or not, makes no difference to me in the slightest. I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up on the beta.
Plus, the D2 "beta" or Demo, was up to Blood Raven. That was like, 30 minutes.
Actually, when the WoW page comes back up, I can screenshot my time left on my account, if you want. Friend gave me a 25 year time-code.

Fair enough, guess we'll just have to see. Either way, 1/3 to 1/2 of Act 1 isn't very long, so still not really something to get your hopes up on. Should be entertaining for a day or two at least I guess.

Don't know about that. IIRC the beta for Diablo II was quite extensive.
The Stress Test on the other hand, was a demo. Could fight up to the first boss in the cemetery, and that was it.
But yeah, beta testing has changed, and differs a lot from company to company. Blizzard as far as I know has extensive "Closed Beta" programs.
Then you look at Gamers First(APB: Reloaded). It's a finished game(F2P now) they bought and put back into beta to make changes before they officially "release" it. It's currently open to all, in beta, and they have been charging money for in-game items; weapons/cars etc. for some time now.
I'm pretty sure Blizzard tests their games on their own quite thoroughly before they even start a closed beta.

Took less than 2 hours to beat it, pretty fun though. Lots of new things around I never saw posted anywhere, like the Massacre XP bonus for chain-killing enemies.
There are other bonuses for killing multiple enemies with a single skill, killing enemies with the environment and killing multiple objects in a row.

I do accept them for what they are. Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer them to be better. I think even Titan Quest(which is a few years old, but a similar game) may have slightly better graphics, though it could just be the less cartoony style.
Blizzard is not a company dedicated to innovation with their games, this should be painfully obvious to anyone. Recycling old ideas/features with ease of use in mind is their staple. But you already know this.

I never, ever ever ever ever ever ever ever hyped conan, and i've done nothing but bash warhammer, since beta.
but you bash everything that isn't WoW, and Rift isn't a failure, they are holding over 1 million subs, which says alot in todays market of mindless sheep that only want to pay blizzard for crappy expansions and rehashed content.
Aion is only a failure to the same sheep who realized they weren't going to get epics for remembering their password.
Get over yourself. sad pathetic man.
AND I'm not even hyping diablo, my real "interest" in a new game is Firefall, something that's actually different than most other games.
