do not see it. not worth it. you can tell what happens from commercials and from watching the old movies. with that said, cgi was good, although i still prefer actors playing the monkeys. but for the love of god this movie is horrible.

good to know it's not worth the cash ^^.

The trailer already scared me off, metaphorically. I have no clue why but it just turned me down. /shrugs

I'm going to wait for it on Netflix. I just find the concept hard to swallow because it seems so implausible. Unless the humans were extremely crippled (such as say, the aftermath of a global nuclear war), I highly doubt that a few dozen, or lets be generous and say a couple of hundred, of intelligent apes are somehow going to defeat a couple of billion humans.

I didn't see it in the trailer, but it seemed the humans only used cops, and I think SWAT. Sure, the apes could theoretically overwhelm them. But then wouldn't the military step in next? Tanks, attack helicopters, cruise missiles, napalm, or it it somehow gets that bad, I don't see nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons being out of the question.

I wonder what mustard or chlorine gas does to apes not wearing a gas mask (which wouldn't fit them anyway because they're designed for humans). Or one of those thermobaric bombs that sucks up all the oxygen from the area while also causing a big explosion. Or even simply leaving poisoned food for the apes in an area they can easily access.

And since this seems to take place in America, guess what? If the government were to suddenly declare open season on apes, you bet your mass millions of gun nuts are going to head to that area, partly because those apes are definitely dangerous, but most likely "Baggin' one of thar monkeyz is gunna be aWesOmE lulZ". Humans are really good at killing other humans, so I doubt the apes would stand a chance in a battle of attrition even if they have a 500 to 1 kill ratio (although admittedly that would be a high casualty rate).

I know, I'm really, really nitpicking here, but I wish they made the scenario more plausible. Sure, a zombie apocalypse isn't likely to happen either, but they're fun to watch because it's fun shooting undead people. Or watching morons get eaten. And in most cases, it spreads quickly, which kind of makes it hard to quarantine, unlike a bunch of apes in a city which could be surrounded quickly if it really hits the fan that badly.

The reviewer I listen to said it was actually really good and the monkey (Andy Serkis aka Gollum) was great.

I was against it from the start because I hate monkeys and I hate douchebags messing with the continuity of classic films but I am actually starting to get a little interested.

I will probably see it if it comes to my $1 theater.

@ Urk Below is going to contain spoilers. if you do not wish to know then dont read. but if you wanna know how its plausible, look below

~~~~~~SPOLIERS!!!!!!~~~~
You were warned~~~~
The monkeys were enhanced with the cure for althiemers. Now being the dumb people we are, we think we can take out monkeys with police with riot gear. also the fact we dont send more people out to kill the monkeys, the cure was not meant to go airborne when released which it did infecting 1 human who started to pass it on. from there it started to spread around the world and thats how the movie ends
Hmm, spy, thanks for the spoilers. I don't mind reading them since I don't plan to watch this movie anytime soon.
Man, from what you told me, this would be an awesome start to a zombie apocalypse. But with ape zombies lol. I would totally pay to see that.
It’s one of those movies where you find yourself facepalming and wondering how the human element could be so stupid. People do things that normal people would not do. The ‘battle’ scene just irritated me.
Even if every ape and monkey on the planet suddenly became intelligent I just can't imagine them being a significant threat unless, as already mentioned, it came on the heels of some human disaster. I'll watch it when it hits DVD but no real interest beyond that.
The film was surprisingly good. The first hour was very well put together.
The ending makes perfect sense and effortlessly sidesteps everyone's complaint that monkeys couldn't pose a threat to humans. The monkeys don't lead some sort of military revolution.
As far as the end of the world plot point goes they put it in but left it so very vague that it still works with the lore from the original films.
I disagree completely with the people claiming the humans were irrationally dumb. They were treating the apes like anyone would treat an animal on the loose and they paid for that mistake. A mistake we only see them make once.
I was very pleasantly surprised.
The police had guns and they shot a number of the apes.
The ape speaking was far and away my least favorite part, it almost ruined the film for me.
Apes don't have the proper vocal cords for human speech and the argument that the brain medicine made his vocal cords evolve is inane.
Not even for the word 'no'? I think I've heard apes make sounds similar to the word 'no' so I don't think it would require some sort of evolutionary process for them to form the word. All it would take is the brain power to understand what the word means, to hear the word being said in the proper context, and the realization that it can make sounds similar to that word to be able to reproduce something like what happened in the movie. I haven't watched the movie, just the Youtube clip of it saying no, so you'll have to tell me if those things happened or not.
Okay yeah, that is taking it too far. It would take at least a few decades at the bare minimum for them to start using language like that.
What I can is, Andy Serkis is the best thing the graphics department has ever had.
Is the story like a prequel for that Mark Wahlberg one? I kinda get the impression that it is.
