You can consider Asheron's call dead but WoW? No. It's been hurt by questionable updates for sure but is still strong.

tl;dr: I burn more plats since patch.

hmm, which part of the 10 million world wide players makes this a "dieing" game? Or do you mean dead to you? Not that you would ever try to push your personal views and pass them off as the right way? No way, not here on the VN.

The bulk of subs are somewhere in asia that nobody has ever cared about. They don't have the same subscription structure and don't even have cata. The game isn't the same for them in a lot of ways due to legal/political BS.

I'd imagine that NA/typical subs are down too since no game can keep up the amazing run WoW has enjoyed forever. 5+ years of the same game (with many players playing the crap out of it) eventually leads to some burnout and attrition.

I personally think cata was a weak expansion, crushing casual raiding was a completely stupid idea (raiding went from accessible to many in wotlk to hardcore only in cata), gutting core systems added nothing and made the game more superficial, repeating WOTLK (rep grinds, emblem grinds, emblem revamps) verbatim without adding anything fresh while crushing other elements of the game is weak, and so on.

GC and the b-team are running the game into the ground, it's just that it takes a while to see noticeable impact on such a behemoth.

You won and have the message board all to yourself and the couple of the other [tos_profanity] that troll this board. Does your obvious pathetic existence feel more validated now that you have taken over a [tos_profanity] little no name message board that no one uses?

No need to reply as I won't reading your inevitable response (you won't be able to help yourself) which will likely consist of an attempt to laugh this post off or call it a meltdown of some sort to make your loser reality (and make no mistake you are a loser) seem not so sad.

Wow is dying for sure...just not at the rate some people would like it to. How can a game that suckers 80% of the people that have "quit" into resubbing ever truly die? thinking

My fondest memory is when some guy was crying about being tired of grinding instances right after he said he had like 12 lvl 80s geared out. S0Oo you're tired of the game??? NO SHIT!!! Im glad you didn't waste too much time before you made your stand!! laugh

WOW isn't dying just entering a new stage in its life cycle.

After a total of 30 or so months of subscriptions over the lifetime of the game, and couple max toons, my fondest memory is the beta.

The game was so fresh and interesting. I still remember the quest I did to collect pumpkins to turn a captured Alliance prisoner into an undead in Trisfal Glades.

My favorite memories are of doing quests in the world where you had elites that were as difficult as instance elites. Example: being afraid to walk through Un'goro crater at 48 because being jumped by a Tyrannosaur was quite probably lethal, especially if you were a squishy class.

Hi, I'm a jackass (which you already knew lol!) and even though I hate all of you and this board with a burning passion akin to acute hemorrhoids, I (like a few others around here) just cannot summon the willpower to refrain from calling you all names and generally making a fool of myself on a semi-regular basis, especially when one of you calls me(us) a fanboy, which hits a little too close to the mark for comfort. I will now make a snide comment attempting to preemptively refute any claims that I am nerd raging or generally losing it on an interwebs forum. I will also call you more names, especially denigrating your choice to post on the same forum I do and play the same game I do, even though it makes zero sense to do so. (Hey, at least I'm consistent, eh?)

Thanks for that, Boone. Your unvarnished honesty is quite refreshing.

The end of beta event for asheron's call. There was a very real feeling of impending disaster there in the last hour the beta servers were up. Not knowing whether the game would ever be released in Finland only heightened the experience.

The quest content of TBC was nice, but the setting not so much... at least for me. Squidfaces in space, the whole outland zones, bleh... not to mention the awful keying grinds and the very steep raiding ladder. WotLK was a much better expansion overall in my opinion.

I think it is more the people that you knew during your time with whatever game, more than the game itself, that makes it memorable.

I have good memories of the first year of WoW, TBC and WotLK. My experience with WoW peaked in WotLK around the time the Dungeon Finder went in. It was fun getting quick groups and doing all that stuff. I enjoyed the pre-LK raid 5 man dungeons. Most of my pugs with the DF were decent, there were only a few bad experiences.

After that it went downhill for me, especially with Cataclysm.

Aye I'm with you on this, there's nothing like entering a totally new game knowing nothing and having a whole world to discover. And back then, there was a lot of exploration in WoW, before the quest assistants, GPS addons, etc...
