You will continue to have problems as long as you keep everything installed under the /program files folder.

Check the sticky at the top of the page. About 5 posts into it, there are instructions for installing AC/Decal/whatever else, in Win7.

Your memloc and messages versions look right, but you said that you "downloaded" the memlocs? Did you update Decal via the update button or did you download individual files and forget one or two?

Along with that, did you follow the advice of the poster before me? You said that Decal "worked yesterday"? I am not an expert, but it's hard for me to believe that Decal worked at all considering the fact that you had everything installed to folders that simply won't allow Decal to run on Windows 7.

*shrug*

Good luck

I'm curious also, at the top he says ..

OS
Win 7
64 bit
service pack 1

.. in the Decal posting it says ..

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

If he is running Win 7, would compatibility mode cause it to flag like that?
----------------------------------
FYI .. I'm having problems with my vtank on just only 'one' of my computers since the patch on Tuesday morning. Double check the memloc etc. Nothing there. I'm watching the threads while checking, why only one of my desktops is having problems too.

Guess I should answer what I found after my wise crack about the different OS versions ...

I normally do not think anything of it, of every monthly patch and run the Decal using it's Update button to get the new memloc/etc. (The important note here is I am updating while Decal is in the taskbar running.)

But this time, a error message got by me. Using the Update button, there was no error message. I discovered it while running the DecalUtil.exe to update the same files again. It complain that it could not update the DecalNet.dll with the rest of the updated memloc/etc files. (I'm spoiled to it working every time.) In the window I got the following error message....

Start Download at: 06:38:39
Parsing update list
Fetching messages.xml
Fetching killbit.xml
Fetching decalplugins.xml
Fetching clientpatches.xml
Fetching memlocs.xml

I then shut Decal down completely (right-click on the taskbar icon and click on Exit). Ran the DecalUtil again. Everything back to normal again.

Go figure. Only one computer had this. (Yup, check back eventlogs, anything installed .. nothing but the monthly patch.)

FYI .. Some 'years' ago this same thing happen for some time. It was the reason for the invention of the DecalUtil utility. That's what clued me to try this.

thank you for your replies.. Yes i did a troubleshoot and told it that the last time it ran well was in Win XP mode. not actually true but was a last ditch effort to get it to work.

It does weird things.. like i dont have lifetank checked as in use . yet it comes on anyway.

I know i should uninstall, reinstall and see why after reading this. I have not done it yet. I need to get more free time and Ill do that.

For the most part, other than super slow logg in, it worked ok as you see it here. After yet, another uninstall, reinstall .. it is operable. Ill try to fix the whole thing one of these days soon
